You can just cut leggy/longer stems and just randomly shove them in moist potting soil. They will take off and thrive. I have very bushy and large carpet sedum plants that flower continuously and look very full and amazing. There is no need for getting roots. Simple long strands (take off a few rows of the bottom leaves first) stuck in soil will take off easily if you keep the soil moist for the first few weeks. They are very easy to propogate. My neigbours take cuttings a lot and theirs are doing well too, same process. I love this plant.
