I refuse to watch anything past generations. Kirk is my idol, my favorite and he has the worst death IMO. He is star trek.

Too much like the start of Star Trek 5. It's not bad but I'm glad they got rid of it.

This script is being rerun for real in 2024. The part of John Gill is being played by Donald Trump. The part of Deputy Führer Melakon is being played by J. D. Vance. Watch Trump's speech in Detroit and the script will become clear--Trump is so addled!

I remember reading the Young Adults novel version of this movie back in the mid-1990s. This scene was in the first chapter (or the prologue?) of that novel. The last line in that part of the novel was as follows: "For old times sake?"

I would have preferred this ad being narrated by someone like George Takei, Leonard Nimoy, or even Kate Mulgrew herself.
Read this in the screenplay before seeing the film; didn't see it in the theaters. Always wondered what happened to it.

There have been some Star Trek novels taking place between the events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country & Star Trek VII: Generations. One of them Star Trek: The Ashes of Eden, written by William Shatner, taking place 6 months before the launch of the Enterprise NCC-1701-B & James T. Kirk's mysterious disappearance in deep space.

I used to LOOOOOOOOOOOVE the trailers for next week's episodes on STAR TREK !!! They always had so many qwuick-cuts to so many scenes, often out of sequence, out of context, so they would make you wanna find out what's gpnna happen, and usually manage to NOT BLOW THE WHOLE STORY for you. That's an art form in itself.

I love that the trailer used the star wars SFX for the storm trooper blaster as the sound for the phasers.

The space scenes are dark and scary, the ship scenes are mostly l dark and boring, and the planet daytime scenes are bright and boring like feeling bored on a hot, sunny day.

2 Kirks split in half one Good Kirk and Evil Kirk (with good Kirk only can’t make strength suggestion without his other half makes memories slip to be whole and Evil Kirk is unhinged mentally with fear ) from the transporter malfunction only needed to figure out to reverse before they lose both energy in order toput both back as the full Captain Kirk Shatner’s performance was excellent🥹

This was before even Cosplay was even a thing. Part of the culture that made it.
@evangeline77x2 ай бұрын
Not really. Cosplay became mainstream in the mid 00s but people have been cosplaying since the 70s. Though the actual term 'cosplay' was officially coined in the 80s. So it was a firmly established aspect of convention culture by the time this film was made.
@anthonygordon94832 ай бұрын
@@evangeline77x You are right. And actually cosplay dates back to 1930s. But Star Trek started what is the modern theme of cosplay. It was the first fandom convention. But I remeember this documentary bringing more light to cosplay in the early 90s. Talk shows started bringing Trekkies on their show for interviews etc. To dress up in sci fi theme, no one thought nothing of. But as soon as people started dressing up like a popular TV show, thats when eye brows were raised.

An interesting "fantasy" episode like "Mirror, Mirror" that couldn't possibly happen. You may be able to speed up a movie so that you couldn't see what's happening and the sound to make it buzz, but you wouldn't be able to really walk through air at high speed without damage and disruption.
@sandal_thong8631 Жыл бұрын
I thought this would be in the top 3 of people's favorite episodes (along with "The Trouble with Tribbles" and "The City on the Edge of Forever," since it's so iconic and seen in _Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey._ But apparently a number of fans prefer "The Doomsday Machine" which is also great and well-scored.
