I am confused why you would be Lutheran after seeing your 7 year old video on Luther and scat (I also only watched 2 min or so of this video).
@HarkVlogs20 күн бұрын
@@mr.discreet7268 Hahaha I didn't even think of that as I was making this video. I should've dropped a reference to that one. I mean yeah, I still identify as a Presbyterian (always have), and my thoughts on Luther haven't changed since I made that vlog, but the Lutheran church I'm currently going to is really wonderful.

@@HarkVlogs woah, skimmed more and liked that you mentioned Pius XI and St. Paul VI. Though I thought the Feast of Christ the King was in response to anti-clerical governments like Mexico at the time and not against nationalism. Like I thought Franco was praised by Pius XI and/or later pontiffs. I'm rambling but you seem like an interesting figure. In your older video, I saw a 2010s "Bieber cut" guy and was just wondering what became of him.
@HarkVlogs20 күн бұрын
@@mr.discreet7268 My understanding was that Pius' writings establishing the feast (beginning with Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio in 1922 and officially creating the feast in 1925 with Quas Primas) preceeded the 1926 writings on anticlericalism in Mexico. For the point I'm making in the sermon, I'm mainly taking his words directly about the feast at face value, which are mostly about nationalism. Perhaps denouncing anticlericalism was in the subtext or surrounding text, though, but when he was specifically talking about Christ as King, antinationalism seemed to be his main rhetorical point. What happened to the 2010s Bieber cut guy? 😂 He's still there, deep inside, but he prefers to think of his hair as reminiscent of a Beatles fringe cut, and he still wants to make silly KZbin vlogs but he hasn't the time.

@HarkVlogs I wish you (and the entire planet) were Catholic, but best of luck. I was simply trying to confirm the authenticity of the infamous Luther quotes. I've heard Dr. Jordan Cooper in a video cringe say something like "Yeah... we don't talk of Luther's later writings" Being influenced by a man whose not necessarily regarded as saintly upon his death is really interesting to me. Like, yeah Saint Mary of Egypt was a prostitute or Saint Augustine had his son out of wedlock, but in the end, they are enjoying beatitude. Unless I'm mistaken, Lutherans don't speak so authoritatively on Luther's salvation, though I know Martin Luther icons exist, halo and all.

I think you appear well-spoken and I admire your desire and ability to preach. I am happy there are other young Christians interested in Christianity and the message of the Bible. I disagree with much of the left and I hope you can see the merit in conservatism in the future. To clarify, I hope you return to traditional, conservative theology and cultural values, not merely be a Republican. There are many political figures across the board which I do not believe represent good Christianity. Beyond that, I commend you for a well put-together sermon.

About the first minute of your video, I do have a couple questions. Does your church teach that gay marriage is a valid sacriment? And does it teach that sex outside the sanctity of marriage is a sin?
@AdistantcatАй бұрын
There is strong evidence that Paul the Apostle was gay and deeply ashamed of it so the very un-christlike anti-gay rhetoric came from his posturing. Tale as old as time.
@HarkVlogsАй бұрын
@@johncalabria1607 Those are both good questions. First of all, in the Lutheran church, we only have two sacraments: baptism and the eucharist. Marriage is not considered a sacrament. But more to the point of your question, we perform and bless gay marriages just the same as straight ones. We teach that it's neither a sin to be LGBTQIA+, nor is it sinful to be in a same-sex relationship. We teach that the passages in the Bible that are typically cited against same-sex relationships are often misunderstood and don't apply to loving same-sex relationships today. As for sex outside of marriage, we do not teach that it is a sin as long as both partners are fully consenting and there isn't any kind of abuse happening.

I actually had a web comic about a plague doctor in modern times, but I stopped drawing/uploading them around the beginning of the pandemic. I really struggled to come up with the dumb absurdist ideas that were the base of the comics when everything reality was so soul-crushingly dour.

A teacher once did an experiment with the whole class with the pendulum. Was nothing supernatural, we were just told to hold it, then think about it swinging in a clockwise direction without moving your hand and it did. Then she told us to think about it swinging counterclockwise and it stopped, then went the other direction. It was both cool and crazy.

I saw on the news some teenage boy got stabbed by his friend, but he was lucky he survived.

One correction. Luther wasn't anti-semitic like Hitler, but what he said about the Jews was unacceptable. Rather than reading chapter 9 of Roman's he did a 180 of Paul!
@HarkVlogs3 жыл бұрын
The point I was trying to make is that Luther's anti-Semitism was part of a long tradition of anti-Semitism that gave rise to and enabled Nazi ideology. Just check out this piece in the Sojourners: sojo.net/articles/nazis-exploited-martin-luther-s-legacy-berlin-exhibit-highlights-how

My favourite appearance of a calculator watch in any movie? Michael Madsen in the opening scene of war games. The two missile controllers begin their shift in the bottom of a nuclear missile solo. Suddenly there is a warning light. To show their intimate knowledge of their gear the other controller asks him to give it a thump with his finger. And the light goes out. Madsen is wearing an early Ca 50. A calculator watch in a nuclear missile silo? Doesn’t get more 80s than that! “Turn your key sir!”
