I absolutely loved this series growing up and it is literally what introduced me to bands like Television. Marquee Moon blew me away when i heard it on this programme. I was already aware of The New York Dolls and Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers but learned about so many others through this. Thanks for posting this.

I met Shane a couple of times in the early 2000s. He was a Gentleman. A little story : I met him in Killarney, Ireland and was chatting with him. My daughters who were kids at the time came in and Shane's first response was to take money out of his suit jacket and demand "Buy the children a drink. Love Shane. R.I.P.

That's lovely and so typical of Shane as I knew him. I spent time with him when he was working (gigs etc.) and "off duty". He was typically polite and kind to most people. In my experience, he was especially well behaved around kids and the elderly. For instance, he'd be careful not to use "bad language".

The interviewer could have been better, there was something missing, he looked as if he wasn't talking Ronnie seriously.

What an absolute treat to see Share sing Ganiuelle. Such an old traditional Irish prose that no one knows who wrote it. When Shane would sing this the entire audience would be quiet and completely in awe it was so incredibly powerful.

The setlist of Friday: If I Should Fall - Donegal Express - Rock N Roll Paddy - Back In The County Hell - Old Triangle - Mother Mo Chroi - Dirty Old Town - Popes Instrumental - Body Of An American - Greenland Whale Fisheries - Public Enemy No.1 - Granuaille - More Pricks Than Kicks - Dublin Town - Streams Of Whiskey - Poor Paddy - Sick Bed of Cuchulainn - Irish Rover /// Broad Majestic Shannon - Bottle Of Smoke - Sally MacLenanne. The Show started at 0.15 h and ended 1.45 h. Approx 600 (?) spectators. Shane seemed to be in a good mood, making lots of jokes, but having the zipper of his trouser open! ;o) After the instrumental he came back without shoes and had to sit on a chair. Mr.Dowling should exercise the songs; he made more misstakes than Shane...They just had Drums, Bass, Guitar and Banjo. The sound was not very good, but Shane was great. A drunken fan entered the stage and pulled Shane from his chair and he fell down but kept singing lying on the floor! Jan

I love this. @13:50 It’s rare to find any footage of Shane singing Granuielle. A song so old that it’s author is unknown. When he sang the it was always extremely powerful that the entire audience sat quietly in amazement and awe. We miss you Oholligan.

On the road to where I work, there was an empty house for about 10 years. Rumors about it being in family court, with nobody getting along. Then, one Monday, the house was gone. So sad.
