Great video, in WA they will take points off you if you stay in the middle of the lane, (on what they call the oil slick) They call the left tyre rut P1n and the right one P2. You get to choose which side according to you next manoeuvre, if not, stay left. (which seems less safe to me) Just saying for the sake of anyone in WA who my watch this.

I would like to see those rules by which assessors are going by. They do not exist. Even the DOT's own "Motorcycle competency standard" doesn't mention which side of the lane you should be using. All those "rules" are bullshit and personal opinions of assessors. I'm getting ready for my first pda in 4 months and I'm already pissed at them for scoring riders on BS rules, made up just to make you fail, if they want to.

Shouldn’t you just be using your friction zone and counter leaning to increase how far you can lean the bike? Relying on turning your handlebars is kind of just a handicap

Had a class yesterday, and we left the school, I was in the back seat, and he was driving the 125cc. He pulled to the sidewalk and told me to get on the bike. Explained the controls in 7seconds and then told me "Now start it, put it in first and ride until that sign, then turn left and come back. Needless to say it didn't go well. I didnt fall or stall but boy was I zig zagging. Stupid method. Today I had my second class went smoother but still, dude threw me right into the traffic. I never rode a bike in my life. We didnt even go to a parking lot first. Too much info and too many things to learn at once. Today, I stopped the bike and shut it off. He came to me and yelled, "Why did you stop?"I told him I dont know the bike. I'll learn when the clutch grabs, and then I'll feel for the front brake for a few minutes by myself (he won't let me use it at all). In 5 minutes, I gained more confidence.

Aren't these bikes going too slowly for counter steering? The handlebars are also being moved in the direction of the bikes so isn't this just slow speed steering? (I am a Noob asking questions)
@BassJuice
@BassJuice Жыл бұрын
Basically yes,exercise for controll at low speed turning,counter steering is for higher speeds. At low speeds motorcycles acting same as bicycles.
@mikeadz1

@vikingthedude

At the end of each weave, your bike’s position is equivalent to that of a countersteering position. During each weave, your bike is “falling” just like it would fall after u counter steer, hence the handlebars face the direction of turn. So yes you can countersteer at slow speeds or you can just think of this as weaving
@amithsanjayk
@amithsanjayk 5 ай бұрын
there is no way you can turn without countersteer, even at very low speeds. You just wont notice it but if I lock your handlebar and dont allow you to turn in the opposite direction and only allow you to turn in your desired direction, you'd fall.

Quick question: Is it a requirement that a learner rider must wear a hi vis vest while riding? The ride safe handbook doesn’t state it in the riding requirements. Just wondering.
@elitemotorcycledrivertraining
@elitemotorcycledrivertraining Жыл бұрын
We highly recommend wearing high vis whilst training to be more visible to other drivers... by law you are only required to display a learner plate to the rear of motorcycle

Lots of errors from that student. The first merging point just after the left turn at the lights was particularly dangerous because they were positioned very close (and swung into) the path of any potentially merging traffic. I hope the instructor gave them some feedback on that after the lesson!

Interested to know which time stamp you are referring to. I’m trying to spot it and learn from this, but that left on ramp after the lights into the freeway looked ok, he did his head checks and saw it was clear after the Corolla passed and then head checked again before moving lane position. I can’t tell because of the sun, but maybe he didn’t signal when merging but other than that I couldn’t spot what else he did wrong there.
@alanthompson68
@alanthompson68 Жыл бұрын
@@bootch82 Hey Justin, the student changed lane position unnecessarily by veering to the right across the face of the merge point at 0:43, and by 0:45 had reached a position that put them in the path of any vehicles in the right lane that might have been speeding to beat them to the merge point. At 0:48 the rider veers back to the left wheel track without checking their mirror or blind spot. There was absolutely no reason for the student to veer right at 0:43 in the first place. They should have been in the left wheel track before and through the merge point, then moved to the right wheel track once clear of the merge point at around 0:48. The second merge point at 1:00 is also poorly done (for different reasons), but of course the give way rules are different for that merge point.

If you are in W.A you can only ride a moped 50cc on a car licence. Anything bigger requires you to obtain a motorcycle learners permit which then enables you to begin learning to ride a REA or RE lams bikes. You ned to hold your permit for 6months then you are eligible to sit your HPT then PDA.
