I think this movie could've been solid in a different writer's hands. They instead chose to go the final destination route but it was poorly executed.

Question, the framerate seems to be a tad bit off? Maybe. It was a little jarring, the question though, is can I Fiddle with the fps and keep it locked to not give that jumpy effect, or is that a game design choice?

The framerate isn’t bad when playing there’s a certain retro style the game has but I think the capture software plus compressing the video into KZbin doesn’t help the way it looks. There isn’t an option to change the fps in game.

I had this wishlisted, too, because it looked like one of those EarthBound-inspired games mixed with some Undertale, funnily enough. But the release trailer seemed crazy to the point of being kind of off-putting, but the gameplay itself looks rather nice. Perhaps I should re-wishlist it. May I ask how long a playthrough took?

Yeah it’s a really quirky game kind of game. Took me around 8 hours to complete but could probably be done quicker.

I saw this on the eShop and wishlisted it, but I've recently been trimming the list somewhat, because it's really long to the point where "It looks nice enough." isn't, well, enough. That's why I looked for a review and finding one for Switch is even better. I think I'll keep it on the wishlist, since it looks fun. I personally don't care too much about elaborate plots with games like these and since it's an indie game I also don't mind controls or mechanics not being perfect. I saw that you have reviews of a bunch of games I've wishlisted or thought looked interesting on the channel, so don't be surprised if I leave a few comments. haha

Not enough time, not enough money. ^^; I also usually am interested in a lot of rather, let's say obscure games, even if they were featured in an Indie World. Like, how many people have heard of Toem? Big indies get covered by the big gaming sites, too, but with more obscure ones it can be difficult to find reviews, that's why channels like yours are great, because you venture beyond Shovel Knight & Co. Though nothing against SK, of course.

This is the WORSE game of 2024 and the only thing that lurked me into buying it was the artstyle....what's wrong with it and why I hate it ? You can't move in any direction and be badass.your stuck in the middle while defending left and right side of the screen...really stupid 😠 😡

I hated that you couldn’t move at first too but that’s the point of the game it’s more about racking up high scores than being a sidescrolling adventure game. It’s more of a cheaper mobile title than anything else

Thank you very much. It’s not an overly long game but it took me around 5 hours to complete. If you take your time and do all the side quests it’ll take longer

Be aware that the developers Sunset Visitor, who identify themselves as being from the 'Asian diaspora' have this insane virtue signal on their studio's website: The studio is "located on the unceded, ancestral, and occupied traditional lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nations of the Coast Salish peoples)" So they are claiming Canada, the country that gave them, some foreign 'diaspora' their new home, is currently on 'occupied' land. So actually they should leave that country and that land and stop contributing to occupying it, right? Sunset Visitor is displaying the typical ungrateful neocolonialist behavior. This 'occupying' criticism is only ever applied to Western countries. Nobody goes to Turkey and seriously complains that Istanbul, is on occupied Greek land (even though the Ottomans never had any claim to Constantinople in the first place, they just had gunpowder and the Greeks didn't).

From what I understand the land belongs to indigenous people, so that's what they're pointing out. I've heard many times that Canada has an issue with how they treat indigenous people, who by the way were living there before any ancestor of modern day Canadians ever set foot on the land. So if the devs should be thankful for having a diaspora, what do you think the treatment is indigenous people should get?

You don’t make a game unfortunately it’s more for story purposes and the games you make, the reception gives your team buffs. I wouldn’t say it was like Phantasy Star Online

Game is awesome, but anyone thinking of buying the game should be aware that you hit a brick wall in the game once you clear the first wave of enemies, which is around the three hundred enemies killed mark. A pink dog like creature shows up before the next wave starts who is basically impossible to kill, unless you manage to kill it by pure luck, which doesn't happen very often. I uploaded a video which shows the creature im talking about. Think ive only got past that dog creature twice. You really dont get chance to kill it.

Agree that the world building is really well thought through, as well as plot and theme. One thing that bugs me though, with the reception of this game, is that the few who have played and reviewed it have hailed it as a revelation of storytelling or something. The way the developer's choose to present the story is novel, but I wonder how well the novelty of it will stand the test of time. Was it really needed to be played the way it did? Did it really enhance the experience, or could the story have been told in a more conventional way without the story losing its impact? I'm not so sure it couldn't have been told in a more conventional way without losing its message. And then the only remarkable thing about the game would be the affirming identity politics of it. Because the plot, while well thought out, is not original in the slightest.

Thank you for watching. In terms of performance I think because it’s not a very intensive game with combat and such and quite simple visuals it runs well on the Switch. I didn’t have any issues with frame rate. I can’t imagine there’s much difference between Switch and Steam version.
