@stashostigin9927 I bent a couple handles and end of shafts. Broke the Y axis bearing housing. No half nut damage. I brazed the cast bearing housing, replaced the handles and deal with the oval rotation as I turn the handles.

70 years old chasing too many hard belly KZbin fixes and they would work for a small sample size but they would go south and I was worse off than before. Totally lost and at my wits end when I remembered I had purchased the vhs tapes many years ago. I was able to google and find Dalton and started over with his lessons....BACK on TRACK I was making the swing way too hard...so simple...thank you

Always use the lifting eye and wrap two ratchet straps around the base and over the ram and another one around the base and over the hook. You always have the mass beneath the hook.

THATS A GOOD WAY TO BURN OUT A STARTER OR IGNITION SYSTEM! NEVER CONTINUOUSLY CRANK A STARTER! YOU CHECK FOR FUEL FIRST BECAUSE IT'S THE EASIEST TO CHECK WITH SPRAYING CARB CLEANER IN THE CARBS AND YOU SHOULD OPEN THE THROTTLE ALL THE WAY WHEN SPRAYING AND CRANKING! OK IF IT DOESN'T FIRE WHILE DOING IT THE WAY I ADVISED TO DO IT, THEN CHECK FOR SPARK? 95% OF THE TIME ITS ONE OR THE OTHER THATS THE ISSUE!!!

Chrysler cars back then had such unique sounding starters. I worked with a girl once who had a 1972 Dodge Charger. She said when her car was cranking it sounded like it was "playing a tune."

I had the exact same situation as you did. However, I didn't cut the shaft, I made a 9"x9" frame out of 2x4 wood. I bolted the 2x4 to the log splitter frame and then screwed down the engine. It worked.

Glad you enjoyed the video. The only issue I have is it hates the cold weather. The engine is reluctant to start under 30° I pull the recoil starter and use a drill to get it to start.

Hey muddy got an update on how these pans are holding up? Thanks!
@muddyudders
@muddyudders 10 ай бұрын
They aren't bad. I'm having to season them regularly, but I assume that is normal. I use crisco shortening to season. They should last me the rest of my life.
@briang4914
@briang4914 10 ай бұрын
@@muddyudders Yeah. Even on my "fancy" vintage one I gotta upkeep them but it's all part of the experience and worth it imo. The seasoning still flaking off? Sometimes I hear that with one's that were sanded down the seasoning doesn't stick well and im curious if I should do that myself with a rough pan. Thoughts?
@muddyudders
@muddyudders 10 ай бұрын
@briang4914 I do get some flaking occasionally. I also get lazy and leave them overnight before cleaning, so attribute the flaking to that. My current routine is to cook and put water in to cover any remnants of food, place back on stove on low heat. When I'm done eating, the pan is ready to clean. I don't baby the pans or the seasoning. I will use soap and a soft scrubber pad. It's easy enough to reseason, and the pan itself just can't be ruined.
@briang4914
@briang4914 10 ай бұрын
@@muddyudders yeah I used to baby mine but then I realized that it survived 100 years under harsher conditions so soap, metal utensils, and some scraping doesn't harm it at all. These things are old-school tools meant to be used. Thanks for the replies!

How much does the engine cost? My dog ate my Champion engine. Yeah. It was covered by my wood pile. A rabbit must have run underneath. Steve, my German Wire-haired Pointer proceeded to claw off wires, the plug wire, and chewed up the air filter housing. Yeap, trashed.
