They didn't bayonet me, but they almost did, the bayonet in this game has a wind up to attack. One handed melee weapons like mine have quicker attack rates and less windup

Highly doubt it, it was a German weapon used for tanks. No tanks were used on the Italian Front. Though you can never be too sure.
