Quite the variety of Motive Power inherited from CN. Since they were owned by the Emmons Corporation they had the same paint as York Rail located in Pennsylvania. Amazingly there were still more 50 ft boxcars in these trains than the paper industry 60 ft cars

With all that nice Autumn color and the rural farms. That would be a trip well worth the money. @@Joe-d7m6k not really. First of all he said scenic railroad in his comment. Which it still is. I volunteer on the railroad and we run 10 miles of active track between the junction and thorndike. Lots of work is done on the line and equipment to preserve history. From thorndike to Belfast isn’t abandoned it’s just currently out of service. Lots of track work needs to be done. Belfast yard was torn up years ago and 2 miles west was made into the rail trail. Track ends at the edge of Belfast at city point station. Last train to city point was 2022.

That film is like a test to see if you can find where the locomotives are in the consist? The former Calumet and Hecla GE 70T which is now down at a museum in Indiana still has the Cooper Bessemer prime mover to the best of my knowledge and they really do bark when they're running under a load. A fleet of three was sizable for this line and those freight car consists are pretty wild. I'm trying to remember but didn't they serve a lot of chicken farms due to all the covered hoppers that probably have feed.in them? Just thinking back to GE 44 tonners two lines that I believe had MU on theirs were out west and sadly are now abandoned were the Arcata & Mad River and the Valley & Siletz. Certainly some fun footage to watch
@benhartin5499
@benhartin5499 4 күн бұрын
Nice footage, they still have three but they will likely never run again. The current management is running the organization like a personal model railroad, buying inoperable locomotives from elsewhere while neglecting the actual Belfast and Moosehead Lake equipment. It also doesn’t help that there are only 2-3 parts suppliers for the Cooper-Bessemer prime movers. The president of the group is a hot head and ran his mouth to atleast one if not more of them, which the suppliers opted to just not sell to them anymore because of it.
