That film is like a test to see if you can find where the locomotives are in the consist? The former Calumet and Hecla GE 70T which is now down at a museum in Indiana still has the Cooper Bessemer prime mover to the best of my knowledge and they really do bark when they're running under a load. A fleet of three was sizable for this line and those freight car consists are pretty wild. I'm trying to remember but didn't they serve a lot of chicken farms due to all the covered hoppers that probably have feed.in them? Just thinking back to GE 44 tonners two lines that I believe had MU on theirs were out west and sadly are now abandoned were the Arcata & Mad River and the Valley & Siletz. Certainly some fun footage to watch
@benhartin54994 күн бұрын
Nice footage, they still have three but they will likely never run again. The current management is running the organization like a personal model railroad, buying inoperable locomotives from elsewhere while neglecting the actual Belfast and Moosehead Lake equipment. It also doesn’t help that there are only 2-3 parts suppliers for the Cooper-Bessemer prime movers. The president of the group is a hot head and ran his mouth to atleast one if not more of them, which the suppliers opted to just not sell to them anymore because of it.
