Incredible. Shame about the cost! Phew.... OMG the operator who donated all of his equipment into a sandy salty electronics hell ! How did he control his anxiety? It's like taking DJ equipment and laptops to Burning Man.....

I tend to ignore (CQ-None) those stations who start with signal report - ignoring sending their grid square. I routinely operate portable, no internet access usually, so I can't (don't want to) rely on a Internet connection to "complete" a QSO. After all, if your station DEPENDS on Internet why not just eliminate the radio part altogether?

I do not see anywhere that it says how much it costs to join the CW OPS academy. I see where to become a member, IF you already know 25 WPM... but I want to learn CW. any help will be greatly appreciated. NS9T

To learn CW it is free with CW Academy. It costs to join the CW Ops club.

So if you have never got the Rig Setup to properly function how are you able to transmit? Seems you went through that section pretty fast. I noticed you kind of sped through the com port setup.

You connected it incorrectly. A choke should be in series with the transmission line. Read K9YC’s choke cookbook for the correct way to add a choke. Liquid electrical tape will insulate the cores, but you want them to dissipate heat. A common mode choke attenuating rain…where did you come up with that theory?
@melming87516 ай бұрын
This is not a "common mode choke". It is just to remove the static. I use a 1:1 common choke connected to the coax feedline. It works amazingly well.

Another drive I've now come across is 'Cypress' and its 'advanced' tab is different from the FTDI one. It has buffer size selections and no option to enable or disable legacy enumerator. Edgeport has the same advance tab as Cypress.

This was truly fascinating, thanks! It was posted almost 2 years ago, so I'm wondering if there have been any further development? I notice that Array Solutions no longer carries the Shared Apex antenna. But whether it's that one or the experimental new one demonstrated at the end of the video, I would love to get some more information on these. I happen to have a healthy amount of land in the mountains, a super quiet environment, and no neighbours, so I'd love to experiment and see what I might cook up here. Cheers!

Bob, this is pretty much what I have planned for my 160m inverted L. I currently have a 6BTV over 32 ten-meter radials fed by buried coax. I’m going to use a switch and a short length of coax to run to the base of a 5/16 λ wire with a 15m vertical run (the best I can do) and place an otherwise unused MFJ-901B T network antenna matcher in a weatherproof enclosure at the inverted L’s feedpoint. I’m hoping to use the existing radials and run it on not just 160m, but 80m as well. Avoiding the 1/2 λ on 80m will hopefully get the impedance on that band down to something manageable for the matcher. I’m pretty sure it’ll play on 160 just fine. It’s still 20°F and snowy here in Alaska, so there’s plenty of time to ruminate further! 73 DE KL7JBB

I have done my fair share of DxEpeditions and contesting, i agree some european stations are as well as some stateside ops are the worst for not listening or not wanting to listen to the DX, the best most respectfull operators without doubt are the Japanese, in a pileup they are a pleasure to work. Nice stepup you have by the way !
