Harley Race was a turkeyneck. He was lucky if he got to shine Crusher’s boots with his ugly mug. Bruiser and Crusher were already legends when Race was learning the ropes, that bum.

At that point in time (mid 60's) Harley had not yet evolved into the greatest wrestler on God's green earth. Frankly, the audience came to see Larry and Harley bump and sell for Bruiser and Crusher, who were the kings back then.

I respectfully disagree with the greatest wrestler on God's green earth. For a handful of reasons. Nick was never overwhelmed or roughed up by Brody. I have watched that match dozens of times. First of all, Nick was the most experienced and technically knowledgeable wrestler in the ring, and knew exactly what he was getting into. Nick sold Brody's offence in a working and professional manner, never seemed injured or winded. Nick was trained by Lou Thesz and had the knowledge to take brody off his feet and tie Brody into knots if he desired. Brody had too much respect for nick to try such a thing. I believe that Nick, being the smaller of the baby face team was playing the role of the vulnerable one, ala Ricky Morton style

Hansen was mediocre at best here in the states. Without Brody? Meh….

When I first heard this interview, I rolled my eyes and thought RVD was just being a bitter pothead. But after all the shenanigans over the last year with Punk in AEW and how Jericho played into that, this makes much more sense.

David became a "wrestler" because it was an easy thing to get into. Being the son of a star can get you noticed but it cannot make you good. David was too lazy to work out and develop a physique and he never understood the work it takes to look good in the ring.

The first time I even tried to bench in my life I could do 200 pounds, obviously I'm talking one rep here. But still. According to my uncle (fathers side) he saw my dad bench 280 pounds in his youth. And my dad never touched weights at all and I do mean literally never. But he still had a defined chest.
