Hi Joe, planning for your course, do you show some live trades in the videos?
@investlikeapro797713 күн бұрын
There are some videos where I go through trades in depth showing my entry and exits. But, the emphasis is not on live trading. I cover a lot of the things that are on my KZbin channel. However, there is SIGNIFICANTLY more detail. In addition, there are lessons that have not been covered on KZbin. The feedback on the courses have universally been very positive.

Thanks for posting this great example Joe. Are you using the hourly or daily Average True Range for your stops? If this were the SPY instead of AFLAC would you be hedging instead of short selling?
@raysonracette46513 күн бұрын
Good question
@investlikeapro797713 күн бұрын
I would use the 2ATRs on the hourly in this instance. Hedging and Short Selling are the same thing, no? In certain instances, I may hedge my longs using this pattern, but it would be rare. My reasoning is that the momentum is strong on the higher timeframes, and I am only looking for a pullback. This is more of a hit and run type of a trade. Normally, I am hedging when I feel like there is risk of a bigger decline since I am hedging my long-term trades. However, if we have a big bullish sentiment reading, then this may be a good setup to play for a hedge. I hope this answers your question.

Spike and Ledge...very difficult for me to find those; always after the fact on LTFs because of the volatility. With this stock's momentum, correcting to a big round number at support would be a good entry point psychologically without using technical analysis. Do you find that Spike and Ledges happen more often around earnings or the Fed? Thanks!

Joe, do you use the inverse ETF as a Hedge? What % of your position do you Hedge typically, or does that change depending on your conviction of how deep a pullback has potential for?
@investlikeapro797723 күн бұрын
Yes, I use SPXU. I calculate based on the volatility of my holdings. Typically, I only need to hedge about 60% of the volatility since my holdings are not completely correlated to the SPX. And yes the amount also depends of the severity of the decline I’m expecting.

Hey Joe, I've been trying the 2 TF pinch play mentioned in the book. I'm having a hard time in applying it at a 10 min / 2 min combo. Will it be possible for you to upload like a review of a day while taking trades on this TF at NIFTY 50 index please?
@investlikeapro797724 күн бұрын
I could see about doing a 2 TF Pinch Play video on intraday timeframes. However, you need to keep in mind that once you drop below 10-minute timeframe the signals are less reliable based on the noise. A 2-minute Pinch is a less reliable signal than a weekly or daily Pinch. Most of the other signals will work better on those timeframes than the Pinch. The reason is that you are basing the trade off of a signal bar. Trigger and stop are very tight based on one tiny bar in many cases. You may want to try to use 2x ATR on the 2minute timeframe as a stop rather than the low of the pullback and that may help.
@omthakur422124 күн бұрын
@@investlikeapro7977 Yes sir, I understand that the lower I go in timeframe, the noisier it gets. Thanks for this 2xATR advice, I'll learn about how to use these. Apart from these, I hope you remember from my comment in last video as well, for some reason I'm more inclined towards intraday trading. I'm kind of new to this trading stuff and I like your way of analysing the markets. Before committing myself to purchase your course, I want to make sure I truly understand and able to apply the setup mentioned in the book properly on the intraday timeframe ( average monthly income of a person in India is around $255, so it's kind of expensive for me. Being a student, trying to save money for that now while learning the setup mentioned in the book). It will genuinely of great help if you could consider a video on intraday timeframe on index funds that often tend to have gaps. I know specifically asking for NIFTY 50 will be a bit too much, so any chart of your choice please. Kindly explain in it a few trades taken as per the 2 TF pinch play trade mentioned in the book. And if pinch play isn't the most suitable one for lower timeframes, which one would you suggest sir? Sorry for such a long paragraph, just really want to learn these stuff. Thank you for your teachings

Joe, question for you. You talk about MACD divergence a bit in this update and in the stocktalk lesson earlier this week. On the SPY weekly chart, given the trend and prior weekly MACD behavior, why wouldn’t we view MACD as “broken” (as you’ve previously defined)? Would you now put more weight in the MACD divergent signals since the ADX is low? Hope this makes sense, thanks!
@investlikeapro797724 күн бұрын
Lots of discussion on MACD has been related to Reverse Divergence. This would be in agreement with 'broken' direction. Now that ADX has been struggling to get going and is still well below 25 despite new highs, I do think it is worth watching more closely.

Hello Mr Joe. I purchased your book like 4 months ago, learnt everything you mentioned as best as I could. Since you have mentioned "ADXellence" there, I've also read that thoroughly. I'm more interested in intraday trading. Can you briefly guide me on the things I need to be extra careful of when applying the things taught in book on smaller timeframes like 5 min. Also, in future, which one of your course would be more suitable for me considering I'm really interested in intraday. Thanks
@investlikeapro797726 күн бұрын
The Advanced Trend and Momentum Course is the most suitable. Some of the examples are smaller timeframes but each example can be applied to any timeframe. The one thing I stress to day traders is that once you drop down to a 10min chart or smaller, the noise increases. That means there are more meaningless swings on those timeframes. With that said, there is no better way to improve your skill level than day trading on small timeframes. Start with smaller risk and try to build once you get comfortable with the signals.

Also, you have mentioned "a clean break of 40 MA" in the classic buy signal that fails (when HTF is negative). Does this clean break mean a close below 40 MA. Sometimes the close is too far from the the 40 MA making the stop a bit too large to expect something like 1:3 RR@@investlikeapro7977
