They would have won first place if UK and Ireland didn’t have issues with their tele-voting from the public. It was only revealed much later from vote count audit. Eurovision never bothered making the correction. So t.A.T.u was robbed of first place. There’s an article about this in The Guardian. Also the girls should give themselves more credit. Julia’s voice had almost completely failed back then as her vocal chords were damaged and they still did really well.

Looking back it seems both Yulia and Lena had body issues. Both of them are naturally beautiful. Ivan put it into Lena's head that she was overweight. Lena apparently only ate very little and drank lots of water. Here is Parvis and yes Yulia said he would leave her if she got fat. Hence the over confident person became so insecure.

From when I look at interviews from the time, Parviz sounds like a controlling dickhead. In one interview just a month after Yulia gave birth to Samir (poor kid looks like his ugly father). The interviewer comments in surprise on how Yulia looks like she didn't have any kids. Julia blushed and says something like "He (Parvis) told me he will leave me if I get fat." Fans have said Parvis would be in the studios during interviews. To be honest I think Yulia had a lot of users and abusers when it came to men she dated.
