I have a question if you had to replace 3 or 4 panels due to tree damage. And panels really damaged. How difficult are they to remove and/or disconnect panels from each others seeing how they were connected and locked in place. If I install from right to left. Do I remove everyone of them to get to the damage panels. Lets say it's 5 or 6 panels in from the gable edge or from a valley.

You can unclip the seams if its a snap lock. Start at one end and run it up the seam. You'll have to remove that section of ridge cap and Z bar. It's unlikely that the colors will match though. Good luck

Hello there, how do the boys flash two 45 degree sheets on the ridge, keeping the standing seam or ridge profile or prickle along the top of the ridge please? I'm looking for a 12 inch ridge cap but must have no welding folded to 45 degrees for architectural appearance, rather than basic flat ridge cap. Thankyou.
@MandMconstruction
@MandMconstruction Жыл бұрын
I think you are referring to a hip roof.? On the hip ridge, first Lay your ridge out and sure it's straight, mark each side. Install your z bar flashing 1/4 to 1/2 inch inside those marks. Rivet the ridge to this continuous z. If it's too tight it will buckle and leave small dents on every standing rib. Hips are tricky. Ridge must be bent on the correct pitch as well. Good luck

@MandMconstruction thanks I'm thinking about using the manufacturers sheet forming machine and roll through marine aluminum to form the roof profile and bend to 45 degrees at 4 inch coverage on each side of ridge . Might dent, though. Don't want to weld the joint seam to achieve the 45 cap angle . The pointed ridge cap looks great compared to the same old flat sheet ridge cap. Tricky problem for me. Andrew Nz

are those NURay ? Are the furing strips necessary? Can you install directly on deck? What kind of underlayment is that? What is the piece that overlaps the transition called? thanks
@MandMconstruction
@MandMconstruction Жыл бұрын
They are snap lock panels. Yes directly to a deck with a high temp underlayment is best. This was a retro fit over an existing roof, which is why it has the furring strips and a radiant barrier insulation. The transition and valleys both have a cleat installed to hook the panels to, this cleat has 1 inch butyl tape under it before it is fastened down to the roof. Hope that answers everything for you. Have a great evening.

@@MandMconstruction Super sweet. I plan on tackling it myself. Was going to cover 45x12' so going to buy enough panels to cover. Get box gable for the sides and drip edge at the botoom. Other than butal tape and some fasteners with the rubber seals anything else i need?
@MandMconstruction
@MandMconstruction Жыл бұрын
This is a standing seam roof. No fasteners are exposed. Check with your vendor for recommendations on what type of metal roof best suits your needs based on function, roof pitch, cosmetics, and budget. They will reach have different specs and accessories. Standing seam requires clips and fasteners that are covered by the next panel, z bar, offset eve, open hem ridge and gable etc. You may want a PBR commercial panel if it's a low pitch.. Good luck to you sir. I'm sure you can handle it just research the manufactures specs.

I'm not sure. Call your roofing contractor back out to take a look. They might need to replace that 1 panel or rivit a tab over it. Hard to say without seeing it...

Why are the second layer of batten strips bent down to align with the first layer of batten strips in the valley? I also see on the one roof you only have one layer of batten strips running parallel with the eave so how is there going to be any air flow from the eave going to the ridge line?

Hi. We just had a standing seam metal roof put on our house and there are dents all over it that look like footprints. The guy says it is oil canning, but it doesn’t look uniform enough to me. Would you be able to tell from pictures if it’s oil canning or footprints? You guys seem like you know what you’re doing. :)
@MandMconstruction
@MandMconstruction 3 жыл бұрын
If you ordered flat pans without striations or mini ribs then it has oil canning. Most vendors require you to sign a waiver at the time of the order warning of oil canning. This will show where fasteners and clips are applied usually. Feel free to send a Pic 601.750.2274 or [email protected]

Thanks for the video and great job done. However, a Q? when standing seam metal is nailed/screwed to the floor /base like corrugated metal, what is the point to use it as far as corrosion/expansion/contraction is concerned?
@MandMconstruction
@MandMconstruction 3 жыл бұрын
The fasteners hold the clip down and are covered by the next sheet so no fasteners are exposed. Also, the clip allows some movement for expansion/ contraction. The runs on this roof are so short that expansion and contraction aren't really as much of concern compared to 40 ft long runs.. thanks for watching!
