From memory there is often a spec for distance from needle to back face of shell - in the turntable manual on Pioneer PL series at least (49mm for example). That should also be set before the screws are nipped tight (i think)

Doesn't the pie burn the label? I thought it would. When you flatten a 33 record label is covered.

Thanks for sharing 🎄❄️🙏. If he saw KFC in 2024 he would be shocked. Many families don't go certain KFC establishments due to the criminal activity not counting the shootings. Hopefully things get better in 2025🤔 Merry Christmas too you 🎄🙏 God bless our European brothers and sisters 🙏🎄 We wish you a White Christmas 🎄🤍❄️🎄🙏

Thank you for this. I was with my Dad when I was around 5 in 69 or 70. Mom sent us for Kentucky Fried chicken and he bought this for me. I still have it. It's pretty scratchy so it was a wonderful gift to find this. Thanks again. ❤

In reallity you can't ever fix them because the warp comes from heat or pressure that expands the vinyl and you cannot shrink it back with more heat all you will do is stretch the rest of the disk and maybe slightly flatten the bump but by then the entire record is distorted. Bottom line is it does not work.

The boxset was also outta my price range but I bought the album instead I can live with it I enjoyed the album.
@danielleclare29384 ай бұрын
Heat causes the vinyl or whatever the record is to expand that is why the warp happens. You have to shrink it back to fix it and heat will not do that all you may do is stress relieve that area by expanding on the rest of the disc but that will cause its own distortion. So you cant fix that type of warp. Maybe a slight bend can be flattened... maybe.

I see a lot of reviews for this record pi. I think the real issue I see with this is the price. If I had a toaster and I am telling everyone how awesome it is and then I tell people this toaster on a good day cost $250 the conversation comes to a full stop. They might come over and enjoy my wonderful toast now and again, but they are not going to buy it. My point is I think you might have bought this to be a good friend and that makes you a good person 😀 .

What is the over hang for your turntable? How did you adjust that? Did you use a protractor to adjust for stylus tracking error? Did you adjust your weight to about 1.8 gm?
@SPINNINGMYWHEELS77710 ай бұрын
pressure after the proper heat is key while it cools. Some vinyl matrix has a different 'melting' point than other companies.. so yes you have to experiment. Good work, nice single.

It's so unhip to admire THE JOSHUA TREE! But I agree with you, it's an enduring masterpiece. The only song I skip is "Bullet the Blue Sky," a (pretentious?) blues song that seems out of place.

Wonderful! I also pulled the trigger to get this recently. Though mine wasn't sealed but unplayed. I got it for a pretty good price. In hindsight I'm not sure that the album would've been recieved in 1967 the way many fans think it would have. I believe it would have flown over a lot of heads. Sgt Pepper's was more accessible as far as lyrics and song structure for a mainstream audience. That being said, Smile is in my opinion, the pinnacle of what might be termed 'pop' music as far as ambition and creativity, subjective as that is. I'm not hung up on this album not being completed in 1967 because I'm on the same page with Brian about the 2004 solo release of Smile being the finished version. Brian himself prefers that version. I love them both so i'm glad to have them in my collection. Still got my bootleg copy as well.

CHRISTMAS DAY WITH COLONEL SANDERS WAS THE FIRST REAL, NON-KIDDIE, RECORD I HAD AS A CHILD, SO IT'S NOT JUST SPECIAL TO ME, IT SET MY TASTES IN MUSIC TO THIS DAY. l STILL LOVE THE ARTISTS AND SONGS FROM THAT RECORD, ESPECIALLY SIDE 1 (WHICH I PLAYED MOST AS A TODDLER, FOR SOME REASON.) I GUESS I FELL IN LOVE WITH HENRY MANCINI'S MUSIC FROM HIS VERSION OF "THE CHRISTMAS SONG" ON THAT RECORD. I HAVE LOVED AND COLLECTED HIS MUSIC EVER SINCE.

Looking at that warp me wonder whether it is a serious manufacturing error rather than a warp that has been caused by poor storage over a long period? Anybody who bought records that got caught up in the mountain of mail and packages that accumulated during the COVID pandemic will know that many records that came out of that mountain were hideously warped to the point of being only fit for the dumpster. I fixed a few of those for customers, back to complete flatness. It takes time. I was even amazed myself. It would certainly be worth it to try this record on your device again and again leaving suitable time gaps between cycles. I think much depends on how long the record has been in that state. Long established warps can be very difficult, but not impossible. I have come across brand new records that were pressed at the Pallas plant in Germany that have a raised ridge right through the record, much like a thin ‘speed bump’. Specifically, these records were by Willie Nile and James McMurtry both on the German Blue Rose label and an audiophile reissue of a Mary Black album. Pallas was obviously having serious quality control issues at the time. I have had no success with these records because the defect in question is due to a catastrophic pressing error.

This is great that you appreciate this music, and it's connection to life at the time. I was 9-12 years old when these albums came out. Sadly for me, I wasn't aware that they existed until I ran across this on KZbin today. Our family was very poor and we'd only get KFC perhaps once a year as a special treat. So if a Christmas record at KFC cost even another penny, my Mother wouldn't have bought it. I grew up in Salt Lake which was the site of the first KFC franchise that the Colonel sold. Harmon's Cafe was a successful business in Salt Lake, and a mutual friend put Pete Harmon and Colonel Harlan Sanders together to talk about franchising. Pete's franchise purchase is what got the Colonel going. As a result, Harlan Sanders would come often to visit the Harmon's in Salt Lake, and when he was here, the local TV station would have him as a guest on their talk/news show. He was treated like, and acted like a member of the community. He was always interesting to listen to when they'd talk about his life. He came across as a very nice man that you'd enjoy having around for your grandpa, especially at Christmas. The liner notes sound like just what grandpa Colonel Sanders would say. It's fun to see this YT post and re-live some of those memories. Oh, and Kentucky Fried Chicken today is not as good as it was in 1968. I'm not sure if that's the degradation of the corporate chicken recipe or my perception as a 10 year old getting a very special treat.

Really great video. I couldn't agree more about the appeal of cd box sets. I have found myself listening to cds more often and the box sets are so well presented, packaged and affordable compared with records. Several years ago, I picked up the "5 Original Albums" box sets of Charlie Haden, The Cranberries, Gene Loves Jezebel, The Cars, Aretha Franklin and The Spinners. Enjoyed watching.
