Thanks for the informative video. Regarding the current generation, in your opinion, are the criticisms of the suspension put forth by a certain aftermarket suspension provider valid?
@d2destinations106Ай бұрын
I have seen examples of the latest generations, suspension failures. At this point, I think they are few and far between but time will tell. I know Max at Traxxion Dynamics has parts that are stronger and more durable for the 2018+ models. I have a Traxxion Dynamics front suspension on my 2002 and love it !

No help for real car tire size 2010 GW I wasted money on 195/55/16 didn't fit
@d2destinations106Ай бұрын
Not sure about that, some guys install it uninflated or very low pressure because it is a very tight fit, and then inflate it after installation to full pressure

You're trying too hard with the center stand. If you stand it up properly, so the weight is evenly distributed to both feet, you can use your body weight on the pedal, and very little upper body to put it on the stand. My girlfriend can do it, no problem. I think the issue is people not standing the bike fully upright because they're afraid it will pull them over center, but as long as your weight is on the center stand, you could even go hands free and the bike won't tip.

I just turned 23 this year, and I've been driving Goldwings since I was 19, and I'd say they're the nicest bikes ever! It's no surprise that folks over the age of 40 prefer them!

Currently I have a Honda Rebel 1100 DCT and in about 2 mos going to trade up to a Goldwing....before my Rebel, I traded in a Harley Road Glide - so going back to a true touring bike again. And just like the Rebel 1100 I'm watching dozens and dozens of videos so I can learn more about the Goldwing. Thank again for the info

I totally agree with you. My other bike is a Kaw ZRX 1200R. I love being with my friends but the most fun I have had on the Wing is when alone. Everyone else thinks we're in a dagum parade and just as you said they have to stay in the left or right of the lane. I tell them to never ride beside me unless we're on the interstate. My question however is about Trail Braking on the GW since the front and rear are connected. On my ZRX Trail braking is very important but the GW, I can't keep the front end loaded with its connected brakes. this is the first GW I've owned so maybe someone can chime in on this.

Thank you for your truly helpful videos. I used a $6 Walmart suction cup mount that actually worked great for keeping my phone in one spot w/my old stock windscreen it has a bendable arm & slight vibration didnt bother me because I just used it for navigation & Bluetooth into my bone conduction headset (by the way Shokz & even some cheap sets out there actually work great for music, directions & phone calls. But just installed a V-Stream Special Edition windscreen that's much sturdier but much more expensive so I'm worried that the heat induced gunk on the suction cup will somehow harm the surface. I have always preferred fixed fairing bikes rather than ones with fairings that turn with the forks. It's probably a weird sensory issue that I want my devices to be in a fixed, immovable position because none of us are looking at a device screen when turning. Nonetheless, I've been looking for a solution to mount a gps & my phone in a fixed position rather than in bars that turn. But once again your videos have helped me. You showed the great flexibility of a Ram mount system on the resevoirs. If you or anyone has ideas about fixed mounting that doesn't move with turning bars, I'm still all ears but I'm going to try a ram mount system for now. Thanks again. These videos are helpful for those of us whose rider friends don't understand & don't ride Gold Wings.

Don’t forget the Goldwing was first offered for sale in 1975 in the GL1000, in 1980 the GL1100, in 1984 the GL1200. Many of these bikes are still on the road today, many with several hundred thousand miles on them and still going strong, some even with over a million miles. I’ve owned a 1978 GL1000, a 1984 Gl1200 Interstate, and currently a 1995 Gl1500SE. I also had a 2008 HD Ultra Classic for several years which got totaled hitting a deer, that’s when I went back to Goldwing, the most comfortable bike you can ride. Once you ride a Goldwing, you can’t ride anything else! 😉

I am on my 5th and probably final Goldwing. 2 1200s, 2 1500's and now an 05 1800 Anniversary Edition. Last year I took my "Someday Vacation" all by myself (the nest way in my opinion, stop when, where and why you want, leave when you want, lol. Central Michigan to the Ark Exhibit in Williamston KY, Corvette Museum in Bowling Green KY, on to Chattanooga Tenn to International Towing & Recovery Museum then on to Cherokee NC to ride the Blueridge Parkway, back to Nashville then home. 1800 miles on the 1800. I can't imagine ever having anything other than a Wing. have been widowed twice and neither one liked bikes so they were 100% fine with me doing my thing. Lost my best half a few years ago to cancer. I had a few friends who also rode, a couple had wings, a Vulcan and a Venture royal. Within a year they ALL got Harleys and within weeks of them getting them, they haven't spoken to me since. Hence, my someday vacation. I will miss riding but I've just lost interest. I love my Wing but maybe it's time to focus on home.

I have a 2003 Goldwing with a 163K miles on it. I bought it new and have had five other motorcycles mainly Harley's while I've had the Goldwing. The Wing has always been my main bike. I have always loved my harleys and my gold wing and never compare the 2 because they are two completely different bikes, and have always liked each 1 for what it is. However, truth be told, my latest Harley, a 2014 Ultra Limited that I bought in October 2023 is more comfortable in the seating position than the Wing for me. The best way I can describe it is that when I ride the Goldwing I feel like I am "on" the bike, but when I ride the Harley, I feel like I am "in" the bike, and that is a much more comfortable riding position for me. To be perfectly honest with you, I did the 1K iron butt ride on my Wing in 2005. I could easily do it comfortably on this Harley. In conclusion, I will say that the Wing is a far more technologically advanced bike than my Harley no doubt. But at this stage of my life, as a full-time RV traveler with a motorcycle, I enjoy a slower cruise and the comfortable sitting position of the Harley more. Also, I found myself racing the Wing around the turns and always going fast on the Wing.....which I don't need to do that anymore.

Lveling up the center stand is a must do for ALL center stand bikes. Some countries don't require driving education before obtaining a license. Those countries that do, youl'l learn this method during your training.
