Grew up handling the st.clair river. Yes tiller boats are better for that presentation. I have a 1926 A&S hand lineing reel that works fantastic to this day. It was invented on the detroit river using victrola boxes

Watched the episode from start to finish. Can't believe it! I just popped in because I saw Aaron's name and then got sucked into the vortex of cat tats and civic politics.

My personal feeling and the sad part of this whole cheating scandal is I don't think these guys pay any real price for their actions. They were suspected of cheating in all the other tournaments but suspected by fishing anglers is a long way from proving anything in a court. They were caught cheating in 1 tournament that they received no money for. I expect a small fraud fine, a ban from future tournaments and that's about it. Their sponsors will drop them but I don't think they seek any further action. Sadly I don't think any real justice comes out of this. It sucks because I know a few tourney guys and this has to cut at their soul.

Interesting conversation.. here's the thing..I grew up on lake Ontario..my brother is an amazing fisherman as was my grandfather..I have seen my share of the sport..the sad thing is these guys are pros and the sport deserves a better reputation that it has..my take is if these major sponsors can afford boats, tackle and big money they can afford to buy the equipment to keep the sport fair and legit...all this crud would end if they make a few tournament rules..such as the knowledge that every fish at weight in will be inspected..they have magnetics, x-ray and Scopes with cameras attached to lights to view live( fire inspectors use these cameras ) these cameras are hand held and feeds live footage on a screen. They are designed to go into small dark areas..I had a fire inspector use one in my home..I lost my wallet down my furnace duct..he was a friend of mine and came to my house and dropped this scope into the hole..the camera had a light and BAM..there was my wallet..if they can use these cameras for situations like mine..they can certainly use these cameras down the stomach of a fish!!!..if they want the sport to be taken seriously then make the rule changes..if a fisherman is under investigation/charged for cheating or wild game crimes they are disqualified until the case is resolved.. honestly I feel bad for the legit fisherman that truly love the sport..and are legit.. surprised they got out of there without being plummeted..rules have to change at these tournaments..bottom line..boat should be searched before they go into the water..this would stop fish transplanting so to speak..kinda hard to smuggle pre caught fish is the live well is searched pre tournament..it's sad things like this have to happen but it will stop once these shady guys know they will be caught..I absolutely agree with Chad..I don't believe they ever won a tournament legitimately..these guys make Mike long look like a saint..smh

Might say that you can mount transducer for Live to a product known as live scanner. mounts on trolling motor yet runs independently of the trolling motor. it has a 340 degree range.

Good podcast-For Walleye boat network systems, I just am revamping all of my electronics. I must say that I am unbiassed when it comes to electronics. But...I must say to Brian, I would have loved to go to Garmin, but I needed a 60' or 72" trolling motor shaft. Garmin fell short on the trolling motor. I did settle on Lowrance and their network system with Live. I have used Garmin and loved their monitors. I am trading off my Gen2 solex humingbird and am not a huge humingbird fan. I appreciate your feedback and opinion on this subject.

Maybe pro tournaments need to fully adopt MLF standards. Total catch and release plus instant weighed with an on boat marshal. Weights could be held until they return on stage to build drama. Just a thought.

As a tournament bass fisherman I have a couple questions Do the walleye have to be alive? Do they ever release the walleye after weigh ins? If your walleye are dead and you catch a bigger one, do you cull a dead walleye or keep it for food? Since you are catching walleye in deep water, do you needle decompress all of them when you catch them?

Rules vary tournament to tournament but I would say there are more catch and release tournaments now then kill events .

I’m curious …..can DNR bring charges with the walleye fillets in their stomach? I know there’s a lot of rules regarding cleaning fish on boats while still on the lake etc.

Because of the corporate sponsorship involvement with the boat they won, crossing state lines, and the amount of money claimed as "winners", yes- it's beyond a felony at this point.

Can I be the first to mention the Walleye tournament cheaters in the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Championship in Ohio this past week? Chase Kominski and Jake Runyon. They won the tournament then it was discovered the fish were filled with lead balls and Walleye fillets.

Shout out from a local dunkirk guy to John hoyer he made me look brilliant to my mom figuring out a pattern on his own that I've been trying to tell others about for years. the resident fish here are big and respond well to aggressive jigging year round...I've gotten so many funny looks through the years trying to tell the charter guys how I get the big ones I catch and I don't get taken seriously...not anymore

IMO You guys have a lot of good ideas on how to grow the tournament entries. a. One day tournaments, b. no livewell needed tournaments [immediate C&R with the rules used in other tourney (same boards, same cameras and sd cards given out the day of the tourney)] c. getting on the weekly radio shows (and asking them to give tournament sign up reminders in the weeks coming up to the tourneys) are all good ideas. Also pounding social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc) early and often with reminders and making those reminders shareable so that the word spreads.

Great info and great conversation, Id love to enter some tournaments but for me its the entry fee holding me back. The idea of some tournaments with lesser entry fee has merit. If I can pay 100.00 and go and see if I can compete than I may be more likely to enter the larger ones.
