What would be the appropriate workflow to export from Shogun Post to use the retarget as a file in Unreal Engine instead of streaming it live?

Hello! Here's a workflow from our Support team, please reach out if you would like assistance: [email protected] 1. Complete the retarget in Shogun 2. Export retarget skeleton from Shogun as an FBX(It's best to delete everything but your retarget skeleton from your scene before doing this or use export selected) 3. Import that FBX file into Unreal. Only the skeleton and animation will be in the FBX file. 4. You will then need to import the character you retargeted to into Unreal - unless your Metahuman is already present in the project 5. From here the animation can be assigned to the character using Unreal animation system

Question about maintenance: I have a classic Gitzo pan/tilt head, about 30 years old but in excellent condition. However, it is almost impossible to twist the tilt arm to loosen or tighten it. How do I clean and lube it to make it usable again? It's not rusted tight; it just feels like the grease is almost solidified.

Please confirm whether you're using the previous version of the script which was made available as a separate download from our web site. If so, fingers are not supported with this version and you'll need to use the one packaged with Shogun 1.10. Otherwise, please submit a ticket to our support team ([email protected]) and we'll investigate further!

Looks great! If we retarget to the UE5 Mannequin that would work well for MaleTall/FemaleTall but would be a bit off for the other skeletons right? I suppose at that point you could just use UE5 built in IK retarget to get the other body animations.

Good question and we should have covered that in hindsight!. Thanks for raising it. In the examples we're retargeting to the mannequin and then in-engine using a medium metahuman skeleton which still gives good results. If a short skeleton is required you may be better off retargeting directly to it. If you use the actual metahuman skeleton of the size needed, the scripts will freeze rotations of all extra bones and hide them for easier viewing and performance, but if any are needed make sure to unfreeze before exporting the retarget. One last note with the Quinn Mannequin : it's very tall compared to the Metahuman female tall skeleton and might not be appropriate for any retargeting. As always you may find Unreal's tools more appropriate in some instances, it all depends on the project need. Hope that helps clarify and thanks for the question!
