Daniel Krähmer told me afterwards, that he had been allowed by Schmidt-Gaden to make some own improvisations in this aria. And he certainly did, Daniel!

Phenomenal performance by Tölzer boy soprano Daniel Krähmer iin the duet with Robin Blaze 09:20-12:40! - To his glorious voice he succeeds in adding an artistic mastership, which makes that sequence to one of the best movements ever ecorded with boy sopranos in a live concert.

Being native "Berliner"I love(d) to watch performances at Deutsche Oper Berlin. While I admire the cantus of these three, I am strongly disappointed of the "performance" - why does this staging not call for an interaction with Pamina? Believing that staging is being intensively discussed before a performance, I find that it is not quite transparent to the audience why there is no interaction with Pamina taking place in this staging. In my opinion there are far better (and, if that's the matter, low-cost) performances as compared to this one. Sorry, DOB, but this is sincerely felt by a "Berliner".

Those drei Knaben get the best ovations.

There is so much that is wrong with the Knaben costumes; rubber boots, yellow construction hard hat, loose badly-fitting clothes, wings that look like dead chickens, and the choreography has the boys crossing their legs one way and then another. I cannot believe someone got paid as a costume designer for this production and the stage saved the production company a packet of money. On a positive note, those legs at the beginning are stunningly good to see.

He’s a very talented boy: very different from our boy choristers in UK very much like a good female asult soprano. I wonder if he still sings? What is that he is being accompanied with? It sounds like a positiv organ but looks like a Spinet?

Wunderschoen, ich liebe Volkslieder und habe selbst im Chor alle diese Lieder gesungen!

First piece has got familiar faces. Enno vK as the soprano, Felix P as mezzo soprano and Jonas H as alto and with the incredible Jörg L as Pamina. Always enjoyed how Felix and Jonas’ voices melded in together in this piece, there’s perfect synergy there. And Jörg has one of my favorite voices among Tölzer’s many soloists, it’s so distinct. Then we are treated to an AMAZING performance of the notoriously difficult “Königin der Nacht” by Jörg! You can tell these parents know how impressive and difficult it is by the cries of excitement and disbelief when they are told Jörg has asked to perform it for them. A job very well done! Thank you for sharing with us these incredible performances by the Tölzers.

So schön ich diesen Tölzer Knabenchor auf der Bühne finde, eigentlich sollten sie dieses Lid in der Natur beim Wandern singen.

In the opening quartett the Tölzer boy soprano is Daniel Krähmer and the Tölzer tenor Moritz Kugler. Main soloists in this concert counter Magid El-Bushra and bass Neil Harvey.

As much as I admire Robin Blaze's countertenor, if a boy alto soloist were available (and there is almost always one or more trained and ready to perform!) I would have preferred that. Thanks to Wolframtismer for this!

A great pity that Daniel doesn´t seem to have got the chance to sing this fantastic aria under its intended circumstances - with orchestra in a church - not only with a primitive piano accompaniment in a place with "dead" acoustics...!
