"No slavery? Then what are those energy whips used for?" "Hey, I said we're better... never said we aren't kinky."

Sorry, Quark. Debt slavery is still a form of slavery and your people ABSOLUTELY have that.

I like how he says. "One is my name" in a friendly easy voice. "The other is not" is a firm not so friendly voice. Which is how it should be. Great acting.

i love how this speech is such bullshit not even quark stand by it after a few season, yeah humans suck, but we never systematically slaved half of the population of our own species for thousands of years straight, in fact humans never did anything even remotely as bad in real life or in the star trek universe (up to that point)

Loved this scene! along root beer scene and Quark's speech in "The Siege of AR-558", it's really an insight to humanity in the Trek universe. Humanity is a little stuffy, a little too self righteous. They are rightly proud of becoming more enlightened, and what they achieved, but often times take themselves too seriously. They forget sometimes what they used to be and how easily they could revert if they did not have access to the technology that made it all possible.

Thing is, he could just replicate the card. But that would mean no drama wouldn't it? That's one of the troubles with Star Trek and Rodenberry's optimism, make things too idyllic, there's no drama, it gets boring.

Shit is a little close to slavery for you to be talking wild like that

You know I really can't say what I exactly think of Richard Harris. I'm open to a few varying views and could easily be swayed to a favourable one. ' How could you not have an opinion now " it might be asked. Well I simply haven't seen enough of him to form a consistent opinion about his consistency. It's one of the few pleasures of getting older and whilst we still have our wits, that one can look forward to fresh discovery, like great books one is still to read. This Roman era teaser I don't know but the Irish gift of language like cascading silk is not surprisingly here. I may as yet soon join the company of followers. The last time I saw Harris was in Cromwell where, even as a child, I found him one note tedious, but that's likely because he might have brilliantly nailed his part.
