So far, it seems that the best of both worlds is using GrapheneOS, which has an isolated Play Store & Play Services container. Banking apps might still have issues, as they rely on the Play Integrity API, but the rest is very easy to manage. used a Huawei P20 smart for a while, now i had to stop using it because, as u said at start, some local apps were not avaiable, and it was very frustrating, although I was not that mad, I was actually happy for once to not be relying on google like in past, now i had to get a Xiaomi with google because i work with state owned organisations so i needed stuff like city hall apps etc. kinda essentially to me, but if i hadn't chose this kind of job i would've definetly stayed happy without google, it was nice not being dependent to that monopoly for once

It's such a shame that this has happened. The Huawei phones were years ahead of their competitors. My Mate 20 Pro is still holding up quite well so far, some features it already had back then are only now appearing on phones from other brands.
