I'm glad you found the video helpful :) the UI was updated since i made this video, now there's a small '+' symbol directly to the left of the volume slider on each track, that is the new add plugin button.

@hiba-f2s Sorry if this isn't 100%, I haven't used LABS in a little while, but I have checked in on it and they changed the setup and business model. From what I see it is now subscription based with premium offerings, but still has a good assortment of free libraries, I'm assuming you can keep a free plan and use those offerings without issue. Edit: I checked the page and chose "try free", and was brought to a subscription page, but at the bottom of the page was the option to continue without subscribing which let me download the app.

It seems like LABS still has free offerings, including all legacy libraries and possible future freebies, but they merged it with premium offerings and a subscription in a standalone plugin. So the free ones are still there, just now accompanied by paid offerings. I do have a bunch of other freebies linked in the description you could check out.

Apparently you can buy them from Madeleine or Aestella in the Post-Game according to the wiki.

Glad the video helped, I wanted to approach the video with the idea that I'm showing somebody that has never even opened the software before how to get started. I was also fairly new to the software when making this video, and recorded it as something I would've liked to have seen as a new user.

not sure what plugin's you're using, but you can go to controllers and adjust the curve with the pencil tool (with snapping disabled), or use the automation curve tool (my preferred method) at the top right of the track indicated by an "A" and from the drop-down menu, select the instrument's volume or dynamics option, then create a curve with the intended effect from the new line that appears.

@@MaveyReal Thanks for the quick reply. I am just using the default Compressor plugin that I think came with my free version (should be the latest version too). I've tried both ways you've mentioned but somehow none of the settings change anything about the track I'm trying to edit. For the controllers, I have program change, aftertouch, channel pressure and pitch wheel, tried pencilling freehand curves for each, nothing changes except pitch wheel does change the pitch of course, which I don't want :) The volume from the automated paramaters menu doesn't allow me to draw curves, it's the basic volume up/down and pan left/right tool. Is there another plugin for volume that allows me to draw the curve?

I've never used a keyboard that was both standalone and midi.

I'm not sure why it would do that, you could try asking Ableton support, I'm more accustomed to Waveform. All I can imagine is tinkering with the plugin order and settings, or ableton's settings to see if something is off.

yea every plugin is separate, but sometimes plugins are held in a hub depending on the distributor and what kind of plugin it is, for example, if you're downloading a plugin from spitfire they have their own dedicated program hub to manage and organize all of their plugins. The same goes for many other vendors. Sometimes a plugin will be standalone, or sometimes they'll be designed to be used with a proprietary software in order to function, a popular one being Kontakt, which itself has a paid and free version. There's a wide array of compatibility and functionality, so be aware of the compatibility beforehand by checking the plugins store page. But for the plugins I've linked in the description they are all free to use either standalone, with the free kontakt player, the free soundpaint engine, or pianobook with their decent sampler.

no not really, most of the strength comes from stacking the pariapts, though I am using the best gear from bitterblack Isles

maybe try changing the input of your plugin from A1 to omni, I find that sometimes helps with my kontakt plugins. if controller curve is giving you issues, you can always try the automate feature to achieve the same effect, there's a small capital "A" on the top right of every track, clicking on it will drop down a list of all plugins in said track, you can go to your plugin and pick a feature to automate, like dynamics. then a line will appear on the track where you can attach nodes and make curves that way, just remember to delete the controller curve so it doesn't interfere. NOTE: Automate also has master controls, I would avoid that since it effects every track instead of just the one.

The menu on the bottom changes depending on what you have selected, make sure you have the right track selected, and do you have a plugin set in the track to produce sound? The vibrance of the note is tied to the velocity, you can manually change the velocity of each note with the velocity option in each track after highlighting a note.

yeah i've had issues with spitfire Labs before due to the destination folders messing up, it can be a headache when encountering issues, hopefully double checking / confirming that helps, if not then I'd say you can try to change destination by deleting them from the spitfire launcher and putting them elsewhere, then tell waveform to search there instead under settings > plugins.
