Hey Jim, I didn't notice any diffrence but, i drove about 2000 miles a year and the bike was serviced the year before i did this. They did a valvecheck and the sparkplugs so the plug where pretty new. About the air filter. Maybee i felt a slight improvemend in throttle response but hardly noticeable. The reason i placed the k&n is better airflow and you can clean it and needs no replacement.

Late to the party here but you shouldn't use the aprilia tank stand. If you have more than half a tank of fuel it will twist the tank and snap the tank fixings at the bottom

At 3 min you can see i remove the 2 in the front. At 6 min you can see i put the new ones back in. I used the Aprilia tool and it was very easy.

The front spark plug that’s dig deep in won’t come out. The aprilia tools are not long enough for me to get leverage to turn the spark plug key. The gold wrench keeps slipping off and hitting the side of the frame

Try to extend it with a backnut spanner. You have more room to make the twist when the tool is higher than the frame.

Hey Peter, The size of the sparkplug key depends on wich plugs you order. Every plug come's with a diffrent size. I orderd the one recomended in the manual (NGK R DCPR9E). This is a 18mm size. There are 16 and 21mm sizes availible as well but i do not know if it fits. I did not change the starter or the altenator. Most commin starting problems are the battery (wich you did) and the starterrelais. This is a weakpoint as well. Most aprilia riders change these for a yamaha variant. This one is much stronger. The relais is right above the battery towards the back of the bike. I thought it was a black round thing with a big cable atteched. Hope it helped you, and good luck fixing it.

Hey Gary, The length i do not know. It was just a peace that i had en it fitted pretty nice. But if you have a complete mille there should be a thin metal stick thing under the passengerseat. This stick is for holding up the gastank. Somebody mentioned it in the comments below (in dutch). @14:32 you see the stick against the aluminium frame just above the plug.

Hey malakov5. Yes there is a laptimer somewhere hidden in the menu. I have never used it but it should be on the bike. You need to activate is some how (probably i need to read the manual) and then you can time youre laps by using the highbeam button. Every time you press it it wil start a new lap.

Dutchie NL thanks man. I’ll just try to open mine up and clean it. If I can’t I’ll just buy this “newer” redesign from 01 onward. Not really a fan of the horn button being above the indicator switch ;)

@@malakov5 i know the horn thing. I drive a honda deauville for forensing and the aprilia for fun. It happens a lot when i ride the aprilia that i horn a lot before a turn😁

Hoi Daan. Super leuk dat je ook met het rijbewijs bezig ben. Ik hoop dat je veel veilige kilometers mag maken. Als eerst is er de kwaal van de koppelinscylinder. Is bij mij vervangen en ik denk bij de meeste wel omdat dit veel voorkomend is. Tweede kwaal is de accu. Het is echt een dikke V-twin waarbij veel vermogen gevraagd wordt om dit rond te slingeren de huidige (orginele) accu is eigenlijk te licht. Zelf heb ik er één stapje zwaarder in gezet. Dit doen de meeste. Het derde wat ik weet is het startrelais. Deze laat eigenlijk te weinig stroom door om de startmotor echt hard rond te draaien. Deze kan vervangen worden door een yamaha exemplaar dacht ik. Bij mij zit de orginele er nog in en heb er af en toe last van dat de startmotor "vast" slaat. Verder wil ik je de tips nog meegeven dat dit niet zomaar een motor is om zonder enige ervaring op te stappen. Het is een ontzettend sterke motor en zeker onderin het toerental. Menig aprilia heeft dan ook een schuiver gemaakt en of zijn totalloss. Mocht je er toch één willen let er dan op dat de chrome achterbrug geen deuken of sporen van reparatie hebben. Dit is na een schuiver een veel voorkomende schade. De reflectie in koplamp verdwijnt met de tijd. (Bij mij ook het geval). Hij vreet achterbanden en lust wel een slokje benzine. Als dit je eerste (zware) motor word zou ik ook zeker adviseren om eens op andere proef te rijden. Zelf ben ik ooit op een gsx-r 600 begonnen. Dit vermogen komt hoger in de toeren en is veel rustiger met gas geven. De aprilia is ontzettend bokkend en totaal niet comfortabel in de stad. Als je nog meer informatie wilt hoor ik dit graag.

@@dutchie078 ah top van de reactie. ik zit momenteel op een gsf 600 bandit met 75 pk, 25kw op kenteken. dus ben iniedergeval al een beetje ervaren. een racer is echt wel iets dat ik altijd wilden hebben. toch wel wat goede tips waar ik zelf niet op had kunnen komen. heb de keuze al wel bijna zeker gemaakt dat ik een vtwin wil en geen in line 4. groetjes Daan

@@rubberbandfreak een twin is zeker een feest om te rijden en zeker met een open uitlaat. Let wel op dat het niet te vwel word i.v.m. invorderen kenteken bewijs. Ik ga juist weer van de v naar de lijn. Ik heb nu een honda deauville voor dagelijks woon werk en de aprilia voor de mooie dagen. Maar helaas merk ik dat dat er bij inschiet en geen tijd heb voor de aprilia. Zo af en toe naar het werk is leuk maar niet comfortabel. Daarom ben ik ook van plan beide motoren dit jaar nog weg te doen en een bmw s1000r aan te schaffen. Maar dat moet financieel wel haalbaar zijn. Ohja nog een tip. Als je gaat kijken bij een motor voel altijd even aan het motorblok. Is deze warm dan is er mee gereden en kan het zijn dat de verkoper iets probeert te verbergen. (Slecht starten of niet lekker lopen als deze koud is)
