Since I shoved the wedge in the top of the cut, it completely alleviated pinching on the bottom, unfortunately I hadn't put a log underneath to prevent the log from rolling right onto the saw and then my hand... lesson learned

looking at silencing my 6500 at my hunting camp. looking at any long term issues. how long have you ran it continuously, has it shut off for overheating or CO2, everything running good with it?
@SinclairDIY2 ай бұрын
In the winter time longest run was around 12 hours with no issues, I did run into the carbon monoxide issue as the weather warmed and the air density changed. To fix that I connected a thin gauge exhaust tube to the exhaust port and ran it out the box wall. That eliminated that issue. The 2nd issue was during the height of summer, if I ran the box closed, the temperature inside the box would get hot enough to vaporize the gasoline in the box - so during the summer I simply run it with the lid open. I'm sure if I added another vent or two I could increase the air flow to cut down on the heat inside and resolve that issue as well. Let me know if this helps!

Never thought of that, that’s a great idea!

Having a straight edge at the top of your outlet flap would be far better. Sealing along the entire top edge would provide much better protection against moisture entering through that hole. Having the flap only attached at a tiny center point, leaves almost the entire upper half of the hole exposed to any moisture running down from above. Also adding magnets or velcro at the bottom edge would help to secure the flap closed when not being used.

Did you notice a change in accuracy when suppressed vs. unsuppressed? Cool video!
@SinclairDIY7 ай бұрын
Great question, not so much a change of accuracy but more so in consistent elevation drop of each round at point of impact. The 158 grain subsonics had significantly more drop than the supersonics. At 35 yds (my range length), I was seeing around 2 inch difference in point of impact. Extrapolating that out, we’re probably talking 6-9inches of drop at 100 yds for subsonics and probably 4-5 inches for SuperSonics. That’s why this is more for home defense, I’m not too worried about drop at distances inside my home. I’ll definitely have to do more testing at longer ranges for curiosity sake - Joe

You could actually build a generator/sound deadning box/ heater for winter....By capturing the heat produced from the engine & exhaust & blowing that warm air into your home. While venting the exhaust gasses away. By turning muffler & exhaust pipe into a heat exchanger. 1 inline fan blows air from the house into the insulated box. Another inline fan on the other side of box blows the warm air back into the house. So the generator is being prevented from overheating by the moving air which takes the engine heat & blows ir into the house. A long exhaust pipe from diy heat exchanger (long coiled exhaust pipe from muffler end) that sicks out the box vents the harmful exhaust gasses away. That way for every gallon of propane used. You're getting both it's heat & electricity to run things. In summer you just pull off lines so the heats not blowing into house. A carbon monxide detector can be used to make sure no harmful exhast is being blown into the house. In case of an exhaust leak from ssy bad gasket. But since propane burns so much cleaner than gasoline. (Think propane or natural gas stovetop burner in kitchen) There is little risk of toxic fumes. So......instead of running a generator for power & burning wood or a propane heater. You can run the generator to get both . ..A 2 for 1 energy savings.

Curious why you wanted to divert the water. What was the rationale?
@SinclairDIY10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment, I recently purchased a property to build a homestead on. We had probably two weeks of heavy rain. Water ran off the mountain behind the property and created a pond about 24 inches deep just above the drive way. It overflowed and made its way across the dirt & gravel driveway for the property in two different areas. Two isolate the amount of erosion on the driveway and prepare for placing a culvert to divert the water, I dug this swale. I've got another video on my channel from about a week or so ago showing how much water was running across the driveway after those heavy rains. Hopefully that answered your question, let me know if not and I'll clarify further. - Joe
