Good catch! Without a true bus chassis, it sits low as well, partially making that storage a challenge.

My guy. Do you know if a 1995 Chevy Roadtrek popular 190 has these mixing valves? I can get hot water directly out of top valve of tank but not when plumbing line is hooked up and only cold from faucet
@RVshopandchef-Fun
@RVshopandchef-Fun 16 күн бұрын
That tank-mounted original Atwood mixer is generally only used on those 16's that really stretch 10 gallons to 16 by overheating the water to a higher thermostat temp, and then mixing it down so you use less. Find out which furnace you have and then track down the design.

Man this was awesome! There is one of the same year and model that I am trying to pick up (it’s free)… only issue is it doesn’t Run … 42k miles “ran before it sat…” any ideas on where to begin getting the motor running?
@RVshopandchef-Fun
@RVshopandchef-Fun 16 күн бұрын
yes! Apologies for the delay responding we have been two months in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. Start with your fuel pump and pickup in the gas tank. Drain the tank and fill partial with new fuel and check fuel pressure up on the engine by removing the fuel line from the tank up at the engine. It has a filter in the tank itself (I think) and then an inline filter about halfway down the drivers frame rail. I think this pump has fairly high pressure, like 80 PSI, so if you are not getting pressure it won't start. We had to go through a number of other parts up on the engine--like the mass air flow sensor and others. I will try to find any references if you are still working this project.

Bingo. These older gassers are good ways to get going in the RV world if you are a good mechanic. That Vortec engine is a good motor, if it hasn't been sitting forever.

We used that bracket just for ease of install, given what framing was in the coach. It is adjustable for vertical angle, but not easy. The horizontal was easier to adjust.

Brilliant stuff! Just in the process of waiting for my new airbags to arrive - one of the old ones got punctured - so this is spot on for me. P32 chassis, but same setup. It'll be nice not to have to crawl under the motorhome to check the bag pressures, too 😅. Yes, I noticed your missing bushings 😂; I have broken 3 of the sway bar brackets now (always on the wheel end, not the centre) - Australian roads are somewhat unforgiving 😢 - and have been getting new ones made up for me from heavier steel as they break. Haven't lost any bushings yet. They're polyurethane, so I'm hoping they will last as long as I do.

We've been in Sydney and really loved it. But I'll bet you are more out of the city. That Georgie Boy was fun because an old-school mechanic can make major headway with them, especially if the motor has been run regularly.

apologies for missing the question. Are we working on the Atwood 16? The normal Atwood mixer on the side of the heater was a chrome bullet design about 3-4 inches around and maybe 4 inches tall, mounted sideways. We replaced that because of its small screen strainers and tendency to clog.

@RVshopandchef-Fun
@RVshopandchef-Fun 16 күн бұрын
Good call, I agree that would be great- but we sold it quickly and started the video after the fact. The gauges were reliable, where we had challenges was developing power under load- we had to go through a number of sensors, and also replace the fuel pump and trace that pressure back up to the engine to ensure the issue wasn't fuel delivery.

I have the same green monster. Did the front airbags, but no tiewraps. Used engine vacuum. Also restored the cooling plenum by putting a barrier made of auto carpet above the radiator to prevent recirculation of hot air. Restored the plywood floor in front of the radiator. replaces electric fan with aftermarket 120 watt fan ( it is triggered by freon pressure). Swapped out a lot of rusty hardware with stainless steel. Did tires and brakes as if it were a truck. Cayenne pepper to keep the rats off the fuel tank.

Better and quicker (instead of zip ties) use radiator worm hose clamps (3) 3in. Just get the appropriate worm clamps that will size down enough so the bag slips thru the opening. A lot better than zip tie method.

Awesome looking Safari Trek. It's a shame they didn't sell well. Why people like 35-40' motorhomes is beyond me. Not everyone needs or wants a 40' Class A. I know I wouldn't! For me, 25ft would be plenty big. If I can get it with a V8 Turbo Diesel, so much the better.

We sold the rig quite awhile back- the dash air was good, but I can't remember locations for the compressor and fan- much of the electronics and fusing was under the front cowl and we had access in through the bottom of the frame where a panel was removed so it was easy to work on.
