What if my 4 year old has literally zero drive? We've tried encouraging him, applauding his efforts but the majority of practice he barely even wants to stand up. Gets super distracted and wants to play other games, like crawling around or run off to the swing set. In the few instances we've managed to get him to kick the ball he just runs off afterwards....it's very discouraging as a parent to see such lack of enthusiasm when all of his other team members of the same age are actually following directions and learning how to play.

I'm kinda disappointed it was so short. It feels like we're barely scratching the surface and there's alot more to dig in to.

How to turn on intrinsic motivation vs extrinsic motivation? I agree, it was a bit short and offered little practical advice to help develop the right types of motivation.

Really interesting video even if the sound was a bit hard on the ears! The 2v2 wasn’t shown, but I’d be interested to know what size of goals the boys were playing with? Was it the 2m x 2m ones that were used in the challenge? Our under 7s were meant to have just finished a season of 3v3 funino tournaments but corona sadly put paid to it. Now the same boys are in the under 8s and the local football association have decided to bring in 5v5 and it’s enough to make you pull your hair out. The boys aren’t ready for it and they won’t learn and more importantly won’t have fun and subsequently won’t develop.

"Support" is when you buy college textbooks for precocious children. "Neglect" is when you force children to practice sport for 20 hours every weekend so they don't have time to study.
