Super thankful for this channel. I’m in week 2 of COTA and on Monday my Instructor was teaching use restraints but then admitted that in their 2 years in corrections they have never cuffed an inmate because they refuse to do it cuz their scared

Tell me If you agree or disagree that all new officers should have work in a housing unit from 3 to 5 years out the gate. 🤔

Alright. Getting in early. I’m so removed from that world. Thank GOD. I’m 6’5” 220. And I find that reality, terrifying, but fascinating at the same time. Liked and subbed.

Also no one or two click cuffing. Make sure to put the cuffs on tight enough so the inmate does not slip out the cuffs. wiggle the cuffs back and forth to make sure they are snug enough. Don’t worry about hurting the inmates feeling.

This is actually great advice for everyone, not just corrections officers. I’m not involved with correction or LE. But I want to say civilians like me thank you. We all know it’s an incredibly tough job.

Hey brother, great information. Is there a way to contact you? Gracias !
Love the content brother! I've had a couple of my Corrections Officers bring your videos up to me over the last few weeks, and I can see why! We are the forgotten profession. It sucks that your videos dont get the amount of attention they deserve. Im planning on showing some of your videos in my roll call. Keep it up, and thanks for what you do!

I have spent over 20 years in prison and I can tell you that you would have been well respected by me. No is a honest answer. Anyone who does what you suggest here will have a easier career in corrections.

Back when I was doing my time, I learned from a longtimer to keep at least 2-3 of the raunchiest porn magazines you could get and keep them where they would be quickly found/seen during a shakedown. During routine shakedowns, frequently (and I do mean frequently), the officer would give your house a cursory search and run the clock flipping through your porn. Saved my ass a couple times. Don't get me wrong, if those C.O.'s had actual intel or a good notion of what they were looking for, those cats could be ruthless and usually find what they're looking for. Another great vid. Thanks for sharing this.

As a former inmate who has also done state time I can agree with what you said. One thing I'd add to the consistency thing is; if you're going to be cool, always be cool. If you're gonna be robo cop, always be robo cop. One thing that's was echoed through all the facilities I've been to is the frustration from a CO who you never knew what to expect from. We knew the robo cops would write you up for anything, so we expected it and planned accordingly. But, if you're the cool cop then write me up over something dumb because you've had a bad day then we had problems. Remember, you're here for 10 hours then get to forget about it, many of us will be here for years

So glad I came across this channel tonight. Just subscribed. I spent a whole lotta years as a guest of the Maine State Prison and I have to say, everything you've said here is back-to-front truth. This needs to be essential training for anyone hoping to become a C.O.. A good many of those officers I remember could be hard as a bagful of nails but if they gave respect, they earned genuine respect. Some could be an iron boot at times, but if they were fair and consistent, they were given their props. They knew how to manage a tier or a Yard. So here I am, an old man more than 20 years after my last day behind bars, working at a VA hospital. So far 3 of my patients have been CO's from back in the day, 2 of whom had long=since earned my respect and the third, a former sergeant with whom I'd repeatedly butted heads. As for the latter, we talked things through and made our peace. As a fellow veteran, it was a privilege to serve them all. Again, terrific vid!!

Or one could go work at McDonald's and make pretty much the same thing if you can make management you'll still have people that want to kill you but it will be way less stress

A lot of good advice for that new CO. My best advise is to learn to pick your fights. You can't enforce every rule. Your #1 job is to go home safe after shift.
@spencer64592 ай бұрын
they need to pay CO's double what they make, considering the danger to your health and safety. for me there is no way I'd ever do that job for a few bucks over minimum wage.

You hit it on the head. You have to be straight and to the point respectfully.

You gotta smuggle in drugs to make it in the big house as a CO.

We need at least 25 percent of the U.S population in prison at all times. Not only will this stimulate economic growth, it will keep the poor & working class in check be instilling fear in them. After being made to suffer by the predators the word will deseminate to the public and it will be easier for the rich and powerful to control them.

5:30 it just sucks when the people that fuck you over on a consistent basis is admin. Your supervisor & directors were once in our shoes have this title of authority, that they forget where they began..

Good information great content i’m what you can call a late bloomer. I am in the process of changing my occupation from truck driver to Law enforcement. I am 56 years old here in New York City. They have the NYPD and they also have a separate department called public safety, which only patrols certain housing facilities one called co-op city in the Bronx and another called Parkchester in the Bronx. They have no age limit as long as you’re healthy with a clean record and you are able to pass the physical and mental exam your in I feel that I need some motivation being a truck driver is totally different from being a police officer so this video is really motivation for me. Thanks.
