I guess I’m an oddball but I like the Voyager with the trunk on. I actually owned a 2010 Nomad and was shopping for the trunk kit when I ran across my 2010 Voyager for sale on eBay at a pawn shop. It only had 1700 miles on it and I got a smoking deal on it. I sold my Nomad for a few hundred dollars less than I paid for the Voyager. The pawn shop owner had it stored in his warehouse and when I got there to look at it a lifter was ticking and didn’t seem to want to stop. I told him that I wanted to check to see what changing the lifter entailed and would call him back. He was asking 9500.00 for it and told me that he would take 7500.00 if I wanted it so I borrowed my friends motorcycle trailer, I was originally going to ride it home 150 miles, and when we arrived at the pawnshop he had it outside waiting for me. When we went inside he was behind the counter grinning like a opossum eating razor blades and as I walked up to him he said “you are not going to believe this”, but the lifter stopped ticking. I responded as to what he wanted to do and he told me that I could have it for 7500.00 since that was the agreed price. I loaded it up and after getting it home washing and cleaning it up I found it to be absolutely like brand new, this was in 2015 and the bike was a new leftover stock sold in 2013. had the factory oil and filter still in it so I flushed it good and put fresh oil in it and changed it again after 500 miles just to be safe. It now has 31k trouble free miles on it, I have a Concours that I ride also is why the mileage is low on the Voyager.

Would love to see some sort of truck relocate solution to make a little more passenger room. Not a lot of passenger space, especially with a driver backrest on.

I love these types of bikes! Its like they were sitting in the board room, and were out of ideas and just said forget it, just strap a motor on the leather couch, add an entertainment system, and call it a day!

Definitely love the trunkless look. I'm a fan of the Vaquero, owner of 2 Mean Streaks, and keep waffling on getting a Vaquero. I see used Voyagers for sale that are less expensive Vaq's, and seeing this sparks my interest. Have you done the Ivan flash to your ecu? I like to 21" front wheel, performance intake, and exhaust mods for these bikes, and to me they look awesome, just never been a fan of either the Vaquero or Voyager in stock for (obviously than one man's opinion, and you know what they say about opinions). Would love to see a complete walk around from a few feet away without the trunk.

Nice Job. Do you have pictures of the trim piece closeup to get an idea of where you/how you cut it? Thanks!

Unfortunately no I don’t. I sold the bike recently. However, it doesn’t really matter so much where you half the trim pieces as long as it’s the same on both sides.

Factory antenna relocated to the lower left trim. I’d consider a shorter antenna tho because the factory one does get in the way of the trunk. Ended up ordering a decal to cover the hole in the trunk.

Cutting the trim was the most challenging for sure. Measure twice, three times, four tim… cut once. If your going to add chrome edging on either side of the cut pieces you’ll need to make sure you remove enough material otherwise it’ll bind up. Oscillating cutting tool is your friend.

Never thought about using oscillating cutting tool. That's one more piece of the puzzle and another step closer. Thanks!

Want to do the same to my Voyager. Have seen another KZbin do this also. The only fear everyone has is cutting the trim piece. I've already slotted the trunk bracket just have to get up the nerve to cut trim. Have also thought about putting on Vaquero trim but it is a little bit pricey.
@jrock2264
@jrock2264 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. I want to do this but I'm afraid to cut the trim piece. Poster fails to mention that he cut it when he initially removes it. I was hoping it was in (2) pieces.
