The Golden Sands holiday chalet park was entirely to the east of Holmpton Road 50 years ago and it was enormous. Now there are less than half a dozen chalets there within 20 yds of the cliff. The park has since been completely re-sited west of Waxholme Rd in the arable lands beyond. These rock piles will slow the erosion, but they won't stop it, because the clay cliffs are so soft. Even the rain will wash them away. Meanwhile erosion will continue apace further south. This has been going on since the last ice age...

Waste of money long-term. You can’t stop nature. Look over the last thousands of years how many villages have been lost to the North Sea.

My one and only visit, 2010ish, having to leave the car hafe road up, then the walk to the RNLI station, noting the rail tracks crossing across the Spit and from what I read indicated twas, with the railway serving it then: an industrious re-ammoing point, of WW1 era to begin, from land to sea, that large cruisers or resupply ship would haul up there to take on board, along with the bunkers of such a vital point, piece of land,
