These are just my thoughts. Don't put any stock to it. Please don't hate me for my opinion. Looking back now, I feel like it was Sarah who stopped this relationship. No shade intended. It looks like Gerald gave it his all. That isn't to say that Sarah did not. It's just not the same when a person that loves you, and who is ready to jump with you, and fight with you, and you leave them in the air. I would know that because I was once in Sarah's shoes with my first boyfriend. He wanted something more from me. He had loved me more than I loved him. I was young, and was not ready for anything more. To this day, I still feel guilty for how I handled that relationship. You can see his feelings here. His message, his looks, the way he kept tugging her hand to bring her closer (7:12). Almost as if he's urging her to just let go and fall with him. It was also painful to watch her make a joke of his feelings. I know she probably didn't think much of it, but every time she pushed him away and brought him back. It's like emotional whiplash. When Gerald asked jokingly "What is it that you really want?" And she said "you" for a joke when the man has true, genuine feelings of love for you, it isn't kind. That's just hurtful. Instead of being giddy at watching them, I just felt sad the more I watch this. It's playing with genuine feelings that a man has for you and that isn't kind. Love is a leap of faith, and sadly Sarah was an adult, but still a child when it came to matters like love because her parents had shielded her from it. He was just waiting for her to be ready, but sadly she never was. I look back at the whirlwind of it all, and I am sad for them both. They may not have made it publicly, but it's clear that they loved each other regardless of how short-lived it was. Most of us have that type of relationship, don't we? A short-lived, yet intense connection with someone. I am glad, though, that both parties have found happiness and love with both their respective partners.
