I was 9 in 1960 summertime. A group of people out in the street in the hood someone said a new dance called the twist it’s like putting out a cigarette with one foot and twist your hips . We were laughing and doing all kinds of twist.moves.😂 good times when the world was teetering on ww3. Dance is all primal

Sounds like the Jive Bunny recording of the twist.

I am 70 years old. I learned the twist when I was 13 years old at my cousins wedding. I came home and started watching those TV shows where the kids dance live on TV each week and I don’t know who said it but someone said if you’re not doing the twist right, take a towel hold it in each hand behind your back And step forward and twist your foot like you’re grinding out of cigarette and pull your hands left and right on your towel like you’re taking a bath thanks for sharing

Who made up these honky moves?? No way we danced like this in the 70’s

It’s the Twist I remember it well, so much fun difference back then to now, everyone joined in unlike today

I love watching this videos and "stealing" the dance moves 😅 I think i have hyperactivity and dancing makes me feel great, or maybe I just like dancing ^-^!!

At 2:47 ...did you get Dan Quayle to do the spelling of "Potatoe" there? lol

Lov doing all of these dances to any kind of music. Except ONE! I'll never, ever do the hand jive. I can't do that one without looking really inappropriate 😂

This is more like an aerobic class with exaggerated moves. This is not how we danced. Ever see clips of American Band Stand?

I took advanced tap and jazz from age 7 until 15 and we never did these moves at all. This is not 80s advanced jazz that I danced.

Very Good, and you did it in tennis shoes...very hard to do it in tennis shoes, I know I've tried! For this dance you need leather soul shoes are the best!

Well you know those dance moves were changed to suit a workout. We looked cool doing them back in the day. Good job😂

They are over dramatizing our dances, just remember we didn't wear the clothes they're wearing, they weren't manufactured back then. We couldn't have made the moves they're showing in the 50 & 60 clothes, I think this an excerise class.

There were always SOME (FEW) kids who knew and did formal dance steps, but they seemed rare and mostly confined to dance TV. The rest of what I experienced in 60s NOLA just kinda got on the floor and moved; mixing up lots of variations on bits of the Hitchhiker, the Jerk, the Swim, and the Twist. SLOW DANCES were a whole 'nother matter.

So sorry but quite honestly these two girls not exactly doing some of the dance moves correctly…A bit too exaggerated and a bit out of sync on few but few others not correct at all…
