Do you see the leds on the screen? In another video I could see 5 of the leds reflection on the top of the lcd that would annoy me like crazy. I will keep it oem until my bulb burns out.

How can you possibly claim this is done with a real NES. You've got a custom widescreen hack or filter or something (gross), and a custom controller. Don't lie to your 100 subscribers.
@MikeJolley28 күн бұрын
erm no you're wrong. I use my NES top loader and split the signal through Retrotink for capture. The capture is upscaled to 1080p, but I was playing on my PVM which is scart 240p.

hey, great run. Do you happen to remember what exact guide you used to apply the softmod / USB loader to your wii? Or at least the settings of your USB loader? Did you install the MM9 and Castlevania WAD files to internal storage or "emuNAND"? Because for some reason when I install them into emuNAND both mm9 and Castlevania do not show the visual thumbnail thing in the menu, but yours do.. makes me wonder if I followed the wrong guide. Thanks in advance

Such a weird and wonderful entry into the Super Mario franchise. Gameboy games were made to be short since the system's battery life was so awful, its also why a lot of non-RPG's also have saves and level selects.

If MIDI is an consortium and standard, why one sound, sounds better than others? MT-32 looks more brighter sounds than any other, like SB, Yamaha or even this dreamblaster?? Thanks for the video btw.
@MikeJolley6 ай бұрын
This game had support for MT-32 and general midi, so you're hearing Roland MT-32 vs General Midi from the SC-55. I agree the Roland is much nicer in this case! As for general midi, yeah its a standard but I think there are differences in how instruments sound depending on sound font. SC-55 in this comparison is an external sound module and those things are hefty and can be expensive, so the fact that the DreamBlaster is almost identical is really cool. If you run dxdiag you can compare the other software midi options as well. They pale in comparison.

Great video! But how did you connect the RGB (SCART) to S-VIDEO (NTSC) device to the back of your Commodore 1702?
@MikeJolley6 ай бұрын
You can get s-video cables for the C64. In my case that would be a PAL signal, hence the need to convert it to NTSC :)

thanks for doing this comparison. it looks like even the clean screen is losing a lot of the dithering effects. the vertical poles in the walls in darker colour are round a smooth in og. looks like same colour as wall with black stripes in the emulator, plus bad scaling in the clean screen. the dark buildings in the background are almost black with windows with a slight blue glow. in the other 2 they look like giant blue buildings with light blue windows. many other things are wrong like the doors, the brick walls, the shadows under the platforms... sorry but i am keeping the og screen maybe with a backlit mod only. the og lcd screen is almost like a CRT. Technically inferior in many ways, but its the only way to display the image properly as originally intented.

SC-55 has been boxed away for now :)
@railsrust Жыл бұрын
I think the MT-32 really steals the show here. Games from the period of Monkey Island were just built with the MT-32 in mind more than anything. Later on the SC-55 would have been better. I will say the differences between the X2GS are mostly just down to stuff like reverb and chorus which can be adjusted through software that Serdaco provides. Personally I see no reason for most people to get an SC-55 at this point unless they just have a nostalgic yearning for a real midi box. Great comparison video, by the way!
@MikeJolley Жыл бұрын
Yup, agree with that. X2GS surprised me how accurate it was. I have not played with the reverb settings too much as I had some issues with some games (Transport Tycoon) when adjusting those settings, but yeah, for most users it seems to be a much better choice than SC-55. I'll do some more comparisons in the future with games that have better MIDI soundtracks. Thank you!
