This is a stretch but it is revealed from a ancestor memory in tanjiro’s dream, that his ancestor met the man with the who was born with the mark, this would be passed down to tanjiro. However, by this logic many people would have the ability to awaken their “inherited” mark but I doubt many would be pushed to the perquisite of body temperature and heart rate necessary to awaken it.

i tried to watch it out of curiosity, hoping maybe you can point out some good points. But honestly, all your criticisms are reaching. They are not very cleverly thought of at all. Was it impossible for the master to not mention his dead students? that's your problem? Also, there's a karate kick, a taekwondo kick, and a muay thai kick. all of them are kicks, but they don't have the same techniques. Much like, there are plenty of kenjutsu styles developed during different eras of japan. Why is it a problem to you that there are different breathing styles? to you they're all the same? either you just have no clue about concepts of martial arts, or you're just reaching again. And then, you have a problem about tanjiro's nature? the essence of his entire personality? his base? your problem was he was, in-nature, a good person? What kind of criticism is that? it's like saying there's something wrong with fire because it's hot. at that point I stopped watching. Nothing you said was clever, and at the rate you were going, I am not willing to go any further for a chance that you might have a good point.

In my opinion, it was season 2, where all of the potential of an interesting story died. It is not the worst season or saga chapter, but it was where all of the elements of shock value, ultimate plot armor, and the death of character development were the most prominent. There were many points of potential for character arc and development, and it was either missed or contrived. From Zentisu suddenly becoming a white knight when he does nothing but harass women, Tanjiro being completely stupid when he picks a hopeless fight with a dangerous demon instead of being smart and trying to defuse the situation before innocent people get hurt. The biggest example for me is Nezuko vs Daki, because instead of Nezuko being forced to use some intelligence and strategies for her fights, she's just given a unearned power boost with no buildup or effort and just wipes the floor with an experienced Upper Moon demon with a much more integrated power set. It was just a bad fight. The emotions for certain scenes were lacking, again, with Nezuko. She's too hollow to be invested in and too perfect and privileged to feel bad for because, just like Tanjiro, she is just flawless. The villains were probably the best and only characters in the story. I liked Daki and Gyutaro alot, and I appreciated seeing actual personalities in a demon and how circumstances can shape a person. But they were just too stupid to be realistic in the end. Don't get started on Gyutaro being an idiot at the end for no reason. Tengen should have died. His survival makes no sense. He should at least have died after the battle. Inosuke should be dead. His survival was just stupid. The Yoshiwara destruction should have had some major consequences. Like the Demons and Demon Slayers being exposed. Tanjiro should have learned of the Daki and Gyutaro’s backstory somehow, so his perspective on humanity could be tested. (Doing something like Tanjiro's nose can smell memories or something. I mean he can smell feelings and actions, so smelling memories shouldn't be.)

40:00 during rengoku's first appearance this is genuinely what i wished and thought would happen if he ever appeared again 😭😭 for the backstories, i think that it's kinda bad cus their backstories are either extremely similar, wayyyy too gory, wayyyy too tragic, or they just exist so the audience loves the character and uses the backstory to soften their flaws/evilness which NO NO GOD NO if it's done right that would be okay but the only backstory i actually find nice is gyutaro and daki's because it's tragic in a more beautiful way. it could've ACTUALLY HAPPENED in real life (except the bit about douma ofc that can't happen). i think, from what i know about that era, they might not have burnt her alive but they could've done.. other things to her that would (imo) be more damaging than death. so i actually quite like this backstory, buuuuut i kinda don't like how the characters turned out after it, i think it would've affected them differently. also for the other characters i don't think their backstories affected them that much at this point oh my god tanjiro and nezuko are EXTREMELY generic. their family got killed and nezuko is a DEMON. THE SAME SPECIES THAT KILLED THEIR FAMILY. WOULD THERE NOT BE A REACTION TO THAT?? WOULD TANJIRO NOT BE TERRIFIED OF HIS SISTER FOR A LITTLE WHILE, BECAUSE SHE COULD EASILY KILL HIM??? Nothing feels natural or earned in the writing, just forced and contrived for the plot. The MC cast is boring. Nezuko is just a hollow husk of a character that is just privileged for the getgo. Zentistu is unbearable and unlikable, and Tanjiro is unrelatable and bland. (Inosuke is fine.)

imo the water, fire, etc is vfx, mostly because of rengoku. The onomatopoeia thing- lots of manga have perfectly unobtrusive sound effects in Japanese, but then Viz fucks it up in the translation since it's hard to integrate them into the art, so sometimes they just paste it overtop. I don't know if that's the case in Demon Slayer, but I wouldn't be surprised at all.

There's a fun little detail in the last pannel of Kishebe's training. Denji's shoes + pant legs are torn up while the rest of his a d powers clothes are intact indicating that, it's during that training that he figured out the leg trick.
