Getting a toyota crown majesta. With the 1uzfe. Using this for reference on snow performance. Would a little bit wider lower profile snow tires be a lot worse?

Wheels look awfully familiar, what are those? Gives this car a surprisingly nice stealthy look.

Literally the factory wheels 😐
@BobbyFocus20083 ай бұрын
I'm Buying a set of Factory rims the rims that are on the car when I bought it are 20 inch lexani wheels and I honestly don't like them I prefer factory rims it's easier to find snow tires, the 20 inch Lexani's are barely tucked under the fenders so finding snows is going to be a challenge, for $4500 I don't regret it at all, the car still has the factory Navigation system, everything functions including the software close door latches, etc and with 126,900 miles on the clock it has a ton more years more than a lot of cars, the only thing I've done since buying it June 24, 2024 is an oil change, breaks and aftermarket drilled and slotted rotors, and plugs , I plan on doing all of the Gaskets and water pump/timing belt,new coils and Air filter, I sold my 2010 BMW 328i Xdrive to buy the Lexus it's a much better car to me at least. Cool video at least I know what to expect once winter hits .

Love this LS gen. My parents had a 98 bmw 740 rwd. Where they live doesn’t get enough snow to warrant winter tires. I had to commute in that car during a snow storm once and it was a scary experience with old, hard tires. It would slip and slide and get stuck on the slightest of inclined from a dead stop. I now live in an area w hilly windy roads and winter tires make a big difference. But it hasn’t been snowing much for the past 5 years, so I’m running all weather tires instead. They’re good, but not great in the snow. But after that rwd experience, I’m afraid to own a rwd car w all the hills we have.

I have owned both a 98 740iL and a 01 740iL. I can tell you without a doubt both of those cars go like mad in the snow with winter tires, the stability and traction control on the 740iL is far superior to the LS430's. I do now have a stablemate to my 01 740iL and that is my 06 LS430. I do really enjoy the LS430 though the 740iL will be my preferred winter commuter.

Snow mode is terrible. I leave it in the regular mode and pick the gear I want with the shifter. Pwr mode annoys me because it hangs on to 4th way to long imo. Also wash the salt off as soon as reasonably possible. Mine only has 160,000 and it's getting pretty rusty underneath.
@averagericer4309 Жыл бұрын
Yah the rust is a killer, this one is very minty with 70,000 miles. I have the car undercoated by Krown, in my opinion its not as good of a product as fluid film, but they will drill holes to spray behind all the body panels and stuff and its only 150 bucks (that's what I paid for just the fluid film when I did my 9th gen civic si, so I think its worth it)
@gregoryroeder7126 Жыл бұрын
I will definitely look into that. Mine is probably too far in the rusting process but someday I may decide to trade it in for one with lower miles and less rust.

I have an 05. If you trigger the check engine light by unplugging the mass airflow sensor, it will trun off the stability control. Probably not a good idea to do it that way but I think it would Probably be okay if you just want a couple minutes of fun in an unplowed parking lot
@averagericer4309 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I've heard that you can disable it by pulling a fuse or unplugging the yaw sensor itself from under the center console.

Does your fog light cover sit flush with the light itself? Took mine off and it doesn't sit flush, and the first screw that you took out on the cover just twists and doesn't get tight when putting it back on
@averagericer4309 Жыл бұрын
I honestly couldn't tell you because I sold the car, but I do remember that screw does botom out so you have to make sure you have the cover all the way in place

americans driving manual is so funny, like why are you telling him to coast around bends lmao
@Chaosvex Жыл бұрын
Guessing it was to avoid having to downshift when he didn't have a grasp on manual but yeah, coasting like that is taking away your control over the car. You'll fail a driving test if you coast like that over here. The whole video was just taking things a little too fast and the engine almost paid the price for that.

Clearly the guy driving in the video was a noob, not sure what nationality has to do with the video or your comment, besides that driving manual is more uncommon in the US

looks like it was his first time driving manual. I was such a fucking bitch when I started driving manual. It took me months to finally give gas when letting the clutch out when stopped. I just didn't want to wreck the clutch. I worked my way up. Finally did it more and more and got the hang of it. And then worked on rev matching, etc. Took me over a year to get good at driving a manual. Even after years I'm probably still not amazing though.
