Hey Drew! No doubt, this knife is a brute! I’ve checked and researched this knife before. No doubt it’s a serious, do just about anything survival type knife. I’ve seen this D2 Pakistan Tacker before. Seems like it will certainly do the job very well. Thought I may have read that it is forged. Don’t know much about forged D2. Pretty sure D2 has great wear resistance but can be brittle. As usual it’s all about the temper. I suppose if the stock is thick and also add in that it is forged would make it damn rugged. I think the original dude who designed these Trackers started making these recently. You mentioned the Tom Brown Jr. Do you mean the one made by Tops Knives? I can’t believe the prices of some stock-removal knives made by knife companies today. Almost as much as a custom made knife. With the availability of super-steels today no need need for a forged blade for some. I wonder how a forged 8” blade Khukuri would do against the Tracker for survival/bushcraft. Throwing a Khukuri is a waste of time. If I was to get one I’d probably get one from the Company you got yours from. Didn’t know CVA still made rifles. I think they use to be mostly black powder. Might be wrong & have them confused with another company. Shot placement is king but a nice big fat bullet making all kinds of damage in & out sure does help. Love the slo-Mo intermissions with Bonzo & the Bergelmeister 👍🏻😊. I think the Tracker you have from The Lord of Metal is the best pick. Seems like the craftsmanship is there along with a good price 👍🏻. That Nepal Tracker looks awesome! Could be wrong but I bet that is forged 5160. Good ‘ol spring steel. Great video Drew! Enjoyed very much! Catch ya later!! 👍🏻💪🏻🇺🇸☘️

Some of the 19th century fighting styles would have you hold the knife so the edge was facing upwards when it was extended; the idea was that you would stab forward and slash upwards, effectively disemboweling your opponent. I really appreciate your channel for the naturalness of its content. But I will be honest about this knife. I am not questioning its performance, the price of this handmade knife, or the choice of materials. What leaves me doubtful is the extreme coarseness of the distribution of the forging marks. I mean, ask a blacksmith who knows his trade well... The hammer marks are so large on this small blade that they look like ripples. As for me, I would have refused the result of such forging work. Take care.

@user-eh8qy6lj5n7 күн бұрын
@@MountaincraftOutdoors It is not essentially a matter of taste but of mechanical properties. I think we can agree that a well-forged blade, with or without hammer marks, should undergo proper heat treatment to ensure its robustness and durability. However, technically speaking, in terms of robustness, big hammer marks, especially on a short knife blade can have potential disadvantages : - Weak points: if the hammer blows are too deep or improperly placed, they can create weak points where cracks might develop under intense stress. - Structural inhomogeneity: uneven marks can lead to an uneven distribution of mechanical properties, which could affect the overall performance of the blade. - Irregular surface: can result in a less smooth surface, which might impact certain cutting tasks. The head of my Gränsfors Bruks axe looks like an ice rink compared to the surface of this puukko blade. That's what I find troubling about the quality-to-price ratio. However, if you like this knife and it does the job you expect, that's great. I’ve said what I needed to say. I’m done with this point. Have a great day!

I liked the design but didn't find it all that useful for my purposes. Not enough to keep it. It works but its too wide for a general purpose knife. In my opinion. Lots of other people like it. The story or history of the knife or rather the design is interesting and worth looking up if you're into knife lore. It was probably designed by rob russon originaly. WOW! Tank of a knife Drew! I had one of those Buck hollow handle survival knives back in the 80’s lol! What a brut! Totally unrealistic but I wanted it. Babied it. Gave it away to a friend. I think I paid around $150 for it. It was very heavy and so was the sheath even though it was like a plastic of some sort. The attraction goes to the Rambo movie and the custom knife made by Jimmy Lyle. I agree that these are more of a conversation piece and cool to have. I’m sure these type knives can do some bushcraft as you demonstrate but with a bit of challenge. I agree about growing a calluce 🤣. The weakest part of those knives was always the hollow handle. Always liked them despite that fact. About 10-15 yrs ago a knife maker and his son made knives for the company Martin Knives in Texas. The son designed a hollow handle survival (Rambo style) with a bomb proof, fully tested, hollow handle. Think is was named the Apparo and came in two sizes. I believe the design is a company secret. The son wound up with cancer & passed away. He was pretty young. In his mid-late 20’s. Sad. Boker knives made some kind of deal ($) with Martin & started producing a similar knife with the same look as the Apparo. Same design for the handle also. Really cool looking knife. I believe all the knives are made by stock removal. Good variety of hunting, survival, military, classic, knives. Not sure if the company is still up and running. I bought a Randall mod. 18 attack/survival knife 5 1/2” stainless blade (440B fully forged) back in the late 90’s. Can’t remember the price. Around $500. No waiting as the knife was available in their showroom. At the time there was a 3yr wait. Now I think it’s around 5yrs. LONG waiting list. Insane. I find the shorter blade is a lot easier to use than the 7” version. A friend had the 7” one and it was a bit more difficult. Randall started making these in the 60’s for the Vietnam war. Saw teeth designed for getting out of a downed helicopter. Different than the teeth on the model in your video. The handles were thoroughly tested against breaking and it was said by Gary Randall (Bo Randall’s son) that of the huge amount of all these knives used only one came back with a broken handle. Every knife has it’s limits. I look at these knives as a “Jack of all trades and master of none.” I love ‘em all. To me, my opinion, there’s always a place/use for a knife of any size, quality, or condition. 😊 🚂🚂🚂🚂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Great video Drew! I really enjoyed it! And that takes some effort that some just can’t seem to do for one reason or another. I have some particular favorites among my knives but they are all equally tools meant to be used. Some are for a particular purpose and some are just to look at. I like ‘em all and they’re all the best to me. Even the cheaper knives I bought yrs ago. Lol! I would use a knife but never abuse it. You mention Gerber knives. Back in the early 70’s they had a hell of a line of great knives. All made right there in Colorado. Their daggers/combat knives were awesome. Their pocket knives were really nice & great quality. Their prices were a bit more expensive than other brands but worth every penny. I believe the company sold out to China sometime in the 90’s, not positive. I hear ya loud & clear about opinions being shut down.
