Dropping the tank is not hard at all. There are no tank straps, the tank has a steel cover, and then 6 bolts. 4 fuel lines (one is a flared fitting 3 are clamps), and the filler neck which is just 2 hose clamps. The tank has a drain on the bottom to facilitate empty removal. Cutting sheet metal is the wrong way and will only lead to rust and a wet interior.

When you downshift, do you still need to brake?
@TheFeesher10 күн бұрын
Only when needed, the engine will do most of the braking

I’m curious, this morning it was our first real cold day, my belt was slipping on the power steering pulley, once the engine warmed the issue stopped. Should I replace the belt? Or could this have been just from not letting my engine warm before driving?
@LionwolfwolfLion2 ай бұрын
There is no belt wear, and it doesn’t seem loose
@TheFeesher2 ай бұрын
The belt is failing in some way or another. Either tensioner is failing to provide enough tension or the belt is old and dry rotting and not providing enough friction. Easy fix is to just replace the belt and see what that does

I just so happen to talk to the owner of Max-torque today. Super cool old geezer, who's daughter still runs that company. Regarding your suggestion to use high-temp grease on so many spots, he says: "That's the kind of customer I like. They burn up their clutch and have to buy another one." Apparently, a dab-will-do-ya. And just 30w oil on the bushing. It sucks it up into the most-needed area.

This happened to my 2014 Odyssey, with 100k, after replacing the front struts. Started making noise after a year. Re torqued and greased the strut mount but the noise kept coming back. Finally ordered new strut mounts and bearings and it solved the noise problem.

So you are holding the nut with a wrench and turning the center with a torque wrench and turning it clockwise and claiming it is loose? Did you expect to get tighter?
@mikepark12193 ай бұрын
Thank you as this video was on point and helped me replace the timing belt and water pump for a 2013 Accord V6. A few things to consider, based on my experience: 1) I used the harmonic socket with a 3/8 impact with 700 ft-lb loosening torque but the crank bolt would not budge so I bought a 1/2 impact with 1,300 ft-lb loosening torque and it took it right off. 2) When removing the engine mount bracket from the engine mount, after the initial loosening if the bolt does not turn easily during removal, jack up or down the engine slightly ensuring that the bolt is in the center of the bracket. 3) When installing the new belt which is tighter than the belt being replaced, turn the front and rear cams 0.5 degrees to get the belt on tightly. Otherwise, it was almost impossible to get the belt on.
@TheFeesher3 ай бұрын
I turn the cam as well when I do them now, I put the cams half a tooth clockwise, then use the cam to pull the slack out of the belt. Makes it super easy!

My question is what if your car doesn’t have pedal shifters or a manual mode? My CVT transmission car has “PRND and Ds” . If I engage cruise control at 40mph would that create the same engine braking effect?
@TheFeesher4 ай бұрын
Sometimes modern vehicles will automatically engine brake with cruise, but I don’t always trust it. Best would be to see what the owners manual says about using lower gears
