Me Too, I had issues with this from day one, I thought it was a PC issue because my PC would lock up when I opened Mach3 so I replaced the PC with a newer one running windows 7 pro. When I first did this I was able to cut out a few parts perfectly, but the next time I fired her up, she started with that hard clunking sound when moving from one feature to the next, in other words it is not losing the steps while cutting but when there is no load on the tool, it is just moving to the next feature. I have ruled out mechanical binding and there is no backlash detectable.

The problem was not easy to find but easy to solve. The lubricating grease on the leadscrews on x and y axis where full of shavings and dust (in my case wood an aluminium). The result was, that also the T-Nut was full of that kind of dirt and fast movements where blocked. I thought that I cleaned that parts, but I did it not good enough. After a real good cleaning in an oil bath until there was REALLY no more dirt on it, the machine worked fine. Now I am only using drops of good oil and no more grease plus cleaning of that parts every 5-6 months. My machine works still very fine (201901 now) and I am really lucky with it.

Hi , I had the same problem losing steps. I used this product(UC100 USB to Parallel Adapter) to take the load from mach3 on a crappy computer. Well worth the cost. Bradley.
