Harmonize is also great for making the output of Stepwise follow the chords of your tune… if you know how to work around Harmonize's nasty defect. See the "Best Workaround" chapter of my Bitwig Harmonize Repair Manual video for that.

Hey Alckemy, I'm waiting for the release of 5.3 to really get back into learning DAW and continuing my progression as a musician. Saw some great footage of you using shortcuts to edit wavs in the bottom screen. Hopefully check in on you again to see if you make some tracks and tutorials with the new release? All the best

Nice one. I’ve got a challenge for you if you’re interested, You seem to be one of the few people who can really squeeze all of the juice out of Drambo so, How close do you think you can get to the same destination just using Drambo and its PatchStorage patches? Maybe include #Drambo in the video title to goose the view count?
@Alckemy2 күн бұрын
It would turn out very different but the vibe would be the same. Just replace whatever you don’t have with a stock device. It’s important to note that DRambo does not have a granular sampler though, which is a major role player here. Silo is also a granular effect so you’d have to rely on buffers and shimmer reverbs.
@KazeNoTaniFarmHakuba2 күн бұрын
@@AlckemyHave I got some news for you, Looking on Patchstorage just now, Deep breath.. GRain pads, Granul8tor, Four Grains, Cloudlike, Memory Backwards 2.0, Glacial Sampler.. so the lack of a native Granular sampler in Drambo might not be the hurdle you were imagining The reason why I’m tugging at your shirt sleeve is that the level of sound design knowledge required seems to be above my pay grade.. “Turning the knob clockwise from the center position applies bipolar quantized random pitch deviation. Turning the knob increases the voltage offset. The quantizer on the right sets the note.” I’m confident that I know what some of those words mean, but smooshed all together like that? Not a fucking clue boss. Don’t worry, I don’t think that I’m entitled to your time here, so no stress, but if you happened to be looking for video ideas..

Many thanks for this video. I've been only using Bitwig since august (2024), so not very experienced in Bitwig yet, but I've been using sequencers and DAW's since the early days in MS DOS in the 90's. I've used Cubase for years. I've tried Ableton, Reaper, FL and a ton of other DAW's. My prime selection criterium: workflow. A DAW should make it ease to accomplish what I want to do in the least amount of time (or steps) as possible. Ableton ticked all my checkmarks. Reaper, well, let's not use profound words here. Cubase felt like going back from c# to assembler (very powerful, but boy, how ludicrously complex did they make it). Logic looks great, especially for that money, but a bit basic and I don't do Mac. Bitwig also ticked all my checkmarks. So my shortlist was Ableton and Bitwig. Eventually I chose Bitwig because 1) the perfect VST isolation, resulting in a rock solid stability (on Win10), 2) lower latency (on my machine at least) and 3) better workflow but not by much. It also has a few quirks, like how the zoom works and the weird way of block of notes in the piano roll using start/end markers etc. But I got used to that. I've been comping and stretching audio to make distortion guitar riffs to play exactly on each 16th note, but your video showed me some stuff which makes live easier. Thanks very much for this video!!!

all i want is a slice at playhead position keyboard shortcut. its enough for lazy chopping. interface tools for the grid to make stuff useable would be great as a big one. to complete the suite and use only bitwig i would need a limiter and another reverb alg but thats about it.
@Alckemy5 күн бұрын
Cmd e does that^^
@LaymensLament5 күн бұрын
@@Alckemy man you got me excited. it does not split under playhead position *while running* ;-) its splits under your time point marker. lazy chopping is when you play back the sample and just press the pads to create slices, ya? the benefit of this is that you get some extra groove into the sample because you dont cut them uniformly.

Is there a way of dragging clips around the way you are doing while creating your beat in Ableton? So, dragging them from the arrangement view and not having to go into the clip itself?
@Alckemy6 күн бұрын
If it’s what I think you’re asking, yes there’s a scrub keyboard shortcut, the cursor should turn into a hand and you can scroll through the sample without moving the clip

At the beginning of this video you said "Scary times" - I disagree! Not the "time" is scary, but the significant and still ongoing decrease of peoples will and ability to question everything, to judge objectively (even most people's claims to not be able to be objective - what implies the missing will to even TRY to be objective). People have stopped thinking for themselves (it was anyway a limited number of people willing to think individually), instead every slogan, however stupid, is chased after. All the ideological crap and trash flooding literally EVERY media these days is either loved or hated, but nobody seems to be able to withstand the temptation of provocation, insetad begin to think, that this might be INTENDED (mutual hate amongst people - no matter concerning it's background - is the DREAM of all elites and their 'sidekicks', the political clientel. Btw... one person's love is another person's hate - so love causes hate and... love + hate causes LACK OF COMMON SENSE! How about your statement(s)...?

Just depends on when it’s thrown into context. If it needs it then scoop some mids. If it sounds fine just leave it alone

8 minutes in and there are already potentially misconceptions here. Firstly, there is no fixed rate per stream so you can't exactly say x streams = $x. But the calculations that are widely known are based on master royalties paid through distributors. When this chap talks about publishing, he'll be talking about mechanical royalties, which is a fixed rate. These are paid directly to publishers as he said (who pay it to songwriters). My guess is that he is being paid mechanical royalties for a publishing deal for a split of a song. There's also at least a 6 month backlog for publishing payments. So he probably thought "why is the ARTIST or record label (getting master royalties) getting so much when I'm getting so little (at that time). He would have got a bigger paycheque later, got radio and performance royalties and a bunch of other publishing royalties. Frankly, I don't entirely trust celebrities talking about the music industry because they don't understand it, but when they say things it's on radar without context.
@Alckemy13 күн бұрын
I think you’re doing the right thing with taking everything with a grain of salt, and I don’t disagree with anything you said, though it doesn’t really change the scope of how well you have to do in order to make considerable income off royalties. Even still, I appreciate the clarification and insight you bring. The video was meant to bring the conversation up, not necessarily proclaim a declaration of factual circumstances without much research behind it
@wirezts13 күн бұрын
@Alckemy appreciate that man! Great work 🙏

Phasers end up being more different from chorus, comb filter, etc. because it's implemented with allpass filters as opposed to delay. This means the notches can be irregularly spaced, and they don't even have to move in fixed ratios. As you say, all of them can be implemented with delay in DSP, but the behavior remains different.
