I don't understand why sime people who are trying to teach a pattern feel the need to go really fast lol it serves no purpose. Just play it slow and steady and that's how students learn and learn to play in time.

I hear you. You're right, it's fast. This is an advanced professional-level pattern. It requires that you are already proficient in mano secreta (doubles) and have the ability to play paradiddle diddles in various inversions. You will also need complete control over tones and slaps at high speed while playing 3 drums. For a player with all those skills this one-minute lesson is enough to build the whole pattern. However, if you don't have those building blocks which are in themselves somewhat advanced, trying to learn this complex pattern based on those building blocks would be a waste of time. I would recommend learning the building blocks first. Good luck.

@@SlapToneBass Cool. Its not rerally the speed I have an issue with. I thnk its really important to teach students to play steady and in control and loose. ..that's how one learns to properly play fast. That's all I meant by my comment :)

Super cool! Thank you for bringing these combinations to life. I have subscribed. Please make more videos! I happened to start doing this combination myself, trying to bridge between a mano secreta RLLRLRL (Changuito) or RLRLLRL (Vizcaino) 7 stroke combination, and something that would resolve as triplets across 4 beats. This is what I came up with: RLRLLR LRRLLR LrlRLL RLRLrl where lower case are ghost notes, and the first 13 notes are played OOOSSS SOOOOS S. What you have suggested here about placing the downbeat on the right (second note) instead of the left is something I will have to try! Note also that, while I am nowhere near as smooth and speedy as you, I am trying to move away from palm-tip combinations with wide range of wrist motion, instead keep forward or downward tension on the wrist and extracting a double tone or double slap.

Hey Flaco! Do you play that whole combo as one continuous riff? That's a beast! I like the downbeat inverted to the second note of a paradiddle diddle because it accents the shuffle nicely. It's my go-to fill on drums and timbales.

The first exercise is RLLR LRRL. Then RLLRLR LRRLRL. I always put the double after the first note.

The open tones on those congas sound sweet what brand are they
@SlapToneBass Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Those are LP fiberglass galaxy congas with stock heads. Part of the warmth is my recording technique and EQ. They sound good in real life too, but it doesn't always come across in a video unless you do some serious tweaking of the settings.
