Cowboy load. The original Colt SAA was not safe with a round under the hammer.

I miss what CAS was back in the early days. Now it's just shooting tiny calibers with mouse fart loads at targets so close sights aren't necessary and your muzzle is practically scraping the steel targets. The only skill now is being able to shoot fast and marksmanship is an unnecessary skill. And it's always the same course of fire at every stage. I'm not trying to insult CAS shooters, and if this is what they really enjoy, more power to them. But looking all the way back to the 90's at the courses of fire we shot back then, it was a lot more fun. Targets were smaller and farther away. It took skill to hit them. Now, its next to impossible to miss the targets and it all comes down to how fast you can shoot almost un-missable targets.

Yet when we have an old school match the old fuds that make the same claims as you have new complaints. "I can't crawl under that wagon to shoot!", "The targets are too far for me to see!", "My knee is bad, I can't get on that wooden horse!" etc... At the end of the day the fast guys still win by a long shot. Sure, there were no 13.xx stages being shot, they are replaced by 14xx second stages. Most clubs stopped with what you are reminiscing about way before I started shooting. When I asked why it changed, most of our older guys claim the club has to cater to younger shooters or the club dies. I don't mean any of this disrespectfully, it's an evolving sport/hobby. 3 grains of Titegroup under a 105 grain TC cast bullet in a .38 special case. They are around 700fps.

Well how do we know that is a good score?! Or how good it is. And I say this for everyone. We all don’t play dress up, when we play with our guns. So it would be nice to give a base line or graph to show how good or poor that 17.4 seconds… Just sayin’ for a friend if course.

I've been looking to get into this, does the rifle have to be chambered in .44 or .357 mag? I have a .17 HMR golden boy and a .30-30 marlin 336 but I wouldn't think those are allowed.
