Great to hear someone giving Tatiana props for the depth & quality of work she does with vocals & lyrics. The fact that she is handed a finished demo of the melodically & rhythmically complex music from the lads, then she has to come up with a theme, write the lyrics in Russian, translate them into English, fettle those so that they fit syllable-wise & rhyme, decide which passages are to be sung & which growled/screamed, then create lead vocal melody line (& matching harmony/counterpoint vocal lines).... I'm getting tired just typing this! LOL So for someone with zero formal training to be able to come up with such high quality creation & performance across multiple albums & tours is truly remarkable imho. Anyhoo, having said that, I'm just happy that I shouldn't have to wait much longer to buy another Jinjer album!! :)

I think that they are what they are in musical terms exactly because they have no formal training, it's all about how their music feels and sounds to them. And before you reply "but Vlad has formal training!", he composes mainly on guitar, so I don't think his formal piano training gets much use in their composition process. 😄

IMO you couldn't have had a better introduction to Jinjer than with the video that was released shortly before: Audiotree From Nothing, where you could also get to know the band from their very personal side......... Roman, Eugene and Vlad are not actors, but first and foremost world-class musicians, and Tati is the Famme Fatale in Jinjer in the best sense of the word and in my opinion that's enough for 2 bands ;-)) warm greetings from the german musician

Jinjer takes the listener on a journey for sure. Weaving in vocal melodies at times with polly rhythmic music is an art. Oh, so satisfying for us who dig progressive music. This tune is another "through composition" form this amazing band. 🤘 💙💛

It's amazing how after only a few listenings of this song all the hooks are "living rent free in my head". The same happened with Vortex. Not only they're changing the songwriting formulas but also making it work. 🙂

Great video. I've tried this as well, I released a video last year about recording acoustic guitar with a phone. It was harder for me to get a good result recording a guitar amp. Placing it in front of the speaker led to clipping every time (note 10+ and Samsung voice recorder app)... Eventually what ended up working was laying the phone flat on the floor facing up, 4 to 6 in front of the amp (also on the floor). The sounds I was going for were not as heavy as yours. What app did you use to record on the iPhone?
@J-163
@J-163 9 күн бұрын
Hey Billy! I checked out your video and there's some great info there, I also really like how enthusiastic your approach is. I used the Voice Memos app that comes stock with iPhones/iPads. I did think about using the camera app, GarageBand app or a third party camera/audio recording app so that I could have more control over the input gain, but decided to keep things simple. The apple Voice Memos app records in mono. I wonder if your guitar amp recording clipped so easily because the Samsung voice recorder app records in stereo which I assume would lead to more input signal to drive the preamp to cause the clipping. Just a theory....
@BillySoundFarm
@BillySoundFarm 9 күн бұрын
@@J-163 Thanks! I never thought about the stereo signal clipping the preamp, I'll have to see if there's a way to record on mono with one of the stock apps. I did look into if there was a third party app where I could trim the input gain, but I guess I couldn't find one that I liked enough to download.

Hey man, I just found your channel and I love the way you break things down - I like that you react to niche things that most other music reactors don't (like the OMV for this song! I really found that it elevated the song a lot too and I liked how you dedicated attention to it). You've obviously got solid expertise and you always take the time to carefully think about different elements of the song. I appreciate your calmer style, and how genuine your reactions are. Seems like you really just enjoy listening to music, not in it for the views or anything like that. Super chill time to watch you - instant sub :)

what you could have done too, is mix some mics together, maybe a bit of the more clear ones with the fullness of the 57

I checked this and a mix of the 57 and iPad is pretty gnarly! Although it’s a very common practice to use a mix of a dynamic mic and condenser mic to achieve exactly what you’ve described, I decided to leave that idea out because I wanted to focus on the idea of “if you only had a phone available”.

It seems like most of Aujla's songs have pretty bad english translations with a lot of grammatical issues (even more so than other punjabi artists). Plus with it being a rap song, any form of wordplay gets lost in translation, so everything seems very typical. But if you'd like to check out his music that isn't rap, I'd recommend Softly, or Admirin' You.

That's a really cool horror track! Pay no attention to your detractors. I think people get a little bit sensitive when they think their favorite game series is being dissed. Fun fact: the basement track you showed is from the Director's Cut of Resident Evil where, for some reason, the MIDI "settings" (I guess?) where set incorrectly. Other KZbin channels have messed with the MIDI files to make it sound more like what it was probably supposed to sound like, and it is truly haunting: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6ClqoeLhs92fMk

That’s actually not terrible, I like the static popping sounds. I’ve since watched a few videos discussing the history of the game and the potential music theory behind the Mansion Basement theme, really interesting stuff!

Ya hard pass I'll stick to the original NON directors cut soundtrack, no offence to your talent but your OST didn't get the vibe neither. Your version was really good but as a full time Resident Evil fan, It sounded more like the suspense music you get at the end of the game when you have to run to the other side of the map to get an item or something. Thats how it felt to me. Love it. Also the the old resident evil games are known for slow eerie unsettling music making you feel like you’re alone and something might pop out any moment.
