I did basically the same thing at my camp on an iPad with launch key and groovebox. so basically there are 16 lights at the top 2 rows of 8 lights. and yeah so I wasted ~5 hours goofing off with that.

Ali Tube go into midi effect rack and drag the effect rack to the big gap at the bottom of the screen then play around with the tabs

MELVY ! Watch a few vids. And down load the free app launchpad for the iPad .play around with it...it does a lot..and it's free !
