Or “Medical Support Measures” the term pull the plug in itself carries a very dark and heavy implication- families carry tremendous guilt with this end of life decision bc of the mere term in addition to losing their loved one.

"If something looks bad, we want to say that it's wrong" 29:26 - is that why "beauty" was seen as an aspect of morality in ancient greece? (Or is that a myth?)

@@avradio0b I believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That why I have always said not everyone like picaso or escher or whom ever the artist may be. But we, even if not doctors have an ability through evolution, I think women more than men, that enables us to pick the healthiest mates! There’s been studies on this subject. Just as the fact that we are pattern seeking primates allows us without a doubt pick the best looking whatever and the evidence is there especially for other human faces. You don’t think those beauty magazines spend what they spend for models just to force an image of beauty on us, do you? No they use the face that in test after test gets picked out by other humans! Anyone that cries about that industry just doesn’t understand business! Beauty is a business. So all that bring said, don’t you think we can look at another human and just know they aren’t very healthy? My eyes have been ripped open this year in my becoming an obligate carnivore! I see what damages have been done to me and everyone else’s health. We too are to blame! They didn’t just do it and we didn’t know. We damn sure did know, maybe not to the extent, but we knew. Every time we stuffed ice cream into our mouths or a candy bar, but that’s ok 👍 but seed oils? Oh they are evil! Just as anyone pointing at any other corporation, they live or die on our wallets! You know why the grocery store is full of bad stuff? BECAUSE WE BUY IT!! No other reason than that! If everyone agreed on one product and all stopped buying it, how long do you think we’d keep seeing it? So then ask yourself, is it the store owners fault? The food makers fault? Or our fault? There’s blame to go around! A bit of honesty in our world would really go so far along the way for us, but we must begin eith ourselves first! Can’t ask something of another you’re not will to take part in. I’m sorry I think I got lost in thought and lost the thread. Hes not being honest, if you take blood you have to repent to the elders, or you will be disassociated, and shunned, and before, you couldn't take blood fractions, so people including children, refused blood fractions, died sacrificing there lives for jehovah, what about al those who already refused blood fractions, that died not getting it, they wasn't taught they don't have to because christ already sacrificed his life for us, if we save our lives by any means show we believe christ sacrificial death was enough. What do you think the liason committee, and signing your blood card, is for, giving them control over rather you take a blood transfusion, there purpose coming to the hospital, is to see if you will take whole blood. Or to coerce you on what you can take. In which they use fear, to control you, by saying jehovah wil destroy you of if you die you won't be resurrected, as if they have control over salvation, christ is the way, the truth and the life, the only way to salvation is through him, not jehovahs organization.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses blood transfusions doctrine is unbiblical & deadly. The tell there members that they are being a sacrifice to the Watchtower’s Jehovah. The JW Elder/ leader at 12:30 is lying when he says a JW member can accept a blood transfusion and there is no stigma and that person is not shunned. The Elders have a secret instruction manual given to them by the JW headquarters and in it is specifically states a person who accepts a blood transfusion is seen as disassociating themselves from the congregation. This is the same as excommunication or what they call disfellowshipping and the stigma attached is huge as all JW family and friends must shun them completely.

It was very hard to listen to John Johnson misrepresent the reality of Jehovah's Witnesses official blood policies. The irony of him doing so in a session called "Ethics for Lunch" is overwhelming. Mr Johnson, you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself! Jehovah's Witnesses Hospital Liaison Committee members should NOT be permitted in hospitals. Immense pressure is put on members of Jehovah's Witnesses to refuse many blood based treatments *_REGARDLESS_* of their personal conscience. Without these henchmen right there in the room pressuring them many will accept treatment, especially if they believe their right to confidentiality of their medical records will be respected. The Jehovah's Witnesses Elder's manual (SHEPHERD THE FLOCK OF GOD) makes it clear that a member who accepts a blood transfusion and is not 'repentant' for doing so has disassociated themself from the religion. This means they are subjected to the mental torture of shunning INDEFINITELY unless they come back begging the religion to forgive them for the crime of making their own decisions about which medical treatments they will accept!

Sadly, what Mr. Johnson says at 12:20 is factually false when he says that Jehovah's Witnesses who accept blood transitions are not shunned and there is no stigma attached to it. A careful analysis of Watchtower printed materials will show that any witness who deliberately accepts a blood transfusion will be disassociated (shunned) from the religion. Given Mr. Johnson's position as chairman of the Hospital Liaison Committee, which requires one to be an appointed elder in the congregation, it is clear that he knows what is factually true and is deliberately choosing to misrepresent the facts (lie) in order to avoid a frank discussion about this harsh policy that has resulted in many thousands of witnesses dying needlessly. Truth matters!

When I was a JW, and my husband was not a JW, I always had to gain inner peace regarding their torturous blood issue that he would come to the rescue and not allow myself or our children (minors) to die in the event of us ever needing a blood transfusion. I know now I was very naive to think this way. I hated the way they would hand out this blood card at the meeting and stand over us while we signed it. The courts of justice and the medical profession need to investigate these extremist views of not accepting blood transfusions and realise that some (maybe all) JWs have cognitive dissidence over this blood issue as a result of having been emotionally blackmailed and spiritually abused by the doctrines and practices within the cult of JWs. Doctors need to be allowed by law to have the power to administer blood should it be required as a last resort to save a life, child or adult. This cult uses this practise to boast about the martyrs who are prepared to DIE for their beloved cult.
@Rupunzelsawake
@Rupunzelsawake Жыл бұрын
Medical professionals need to understand that JWs are individuals and not one collective organism. The JW organisation presents a united front only because indivudual members are expected and are coerced into accepting doctrines that they might not even agree with or believe, or even fully understand. (ie.from the effects of undue influence) Therefore, the hospital liason committee DOES NOT represent the beliefs and wishes of all JWs. For several years as a JW, I did not agree with the scriptural interpretation regarding the prohibition on blood transfusion, but because of "stigma" I couldn't make that divergent view known. I knew that I could not be a JW and accept a blood transfusion, even though I felt I could receive one and maintain a good conscience. If I were to accept one I would've been considered "disassociated" and be shunned. That was a terrible dilemma for me. I eventually was excommunicated. Medical professionals think that by honouring jws beliefs they are behaving ethically. But many JWs only have those beliefs through unethical means .

Thank you for this presentation. My concern is that too many physicians are quick to diagnosis patients, especially women, with mental illness before running any tests or considering maybe they aren't aware of less common or rare illnesses or diseases that could be present. When a patient trusts a doctor to help them, being quickly dismissed causes a lot of harm. There are simply too many proven examples of patients needlessly suffering or dying simply because their physician was quick to pull out the mental illness card. Plus, I think a definitive diagnosis of mental illness belongs in the wheelhouse of psychiatry, not a family doctor. Refer when needed, but do your work to explore what else it might be. #my brother didn't have to die like that.

I think that this prescribing opioids can have significant ethical implications for healthcare providers today and that there are a few more overarching ethical considerations to keep in mind like: Patient Safety: The primary ethical concern when prescribing opioids is the risk of harm to the patient. Healthcare providers have an obligation to minimize harm and promote patient safety, which may require careful consideration of the risks and benefits of opioids, as well as appropriate monitoring and follow-up care. Informed Consent: Healthcare providers have an ethical obligation to obtain informed consent from patients before prescribing opioids. This means that patients should be fully informed about the risks and benefits of opioids, as well as alternative treatment options. Non-Maleficence: The ethical principle of non-maleficence, or "do no harm," requires healthcare providers to carefully consider the risks and benefits of opioids before prescribing them. This includes assessing the potential for addiction, overdose, and other adverse effects. Beneficence: The ethical principle of beneficence, or "do good," requires healthcare providers to promote the patient's well-being and prevent harm. This may require careful consideration of the patient's pain management needs, as well as alternative treatment options that may be more appropriate. Stewardship: Healthcare providers have an ethical obligation to be good stewards of resources, including opioids. This means that opioids should be used judiciously and only when necessary, and that efforts should be made to prevent misuse and diversion. Avoiding Bias: Healthcare providers have an ethical obligation to avoid bias when prescribing opioids. This means that they should not make assumptions about a patient's pain management needs based on race, ethnicity, gender, or other factors. Ultimately, I believe that patients have the right to manage pain, but there are limits to it. I also think that for not having much information/answers to the broad questions of what needs to be done, we need to push more actions toward finding the solution (keeping well in mind it can be more complex/simpler than what we think it can be). What are some things we can teach medical students now in order to address this in the future and cause real change? Jukić M, Puljak L. Legal and Ethical Aspects of Pain Management. Acta Med Acad. 2018 May;47(1):18-26. doi: 10.5644/ama2006-124.211. PMID: 29957968.

Note the last sentnece in particular. "(3) Willingly and Unrepentantly Accepting Blood: If someone willingly accepts a blood transfusion, perhaps because of being under extreme pressure, a committee (not judicial) should obtain the facts and determine the individual’s attitude. If he is repentant, the committee would provide spiritual assistance in the spirit of Galatians 6:1 and Jude 22, 23. Since he is spiritually weak, he would not qualify for special privileges for a period of time. In some cases, it may also be necessary to remove other privileges, such as commenting at congregation meetings and presenting student assignments on the midweek meeting. Depending on the circumstances, the committee may also need to arrange for an announcement to the congregation at a midweek meeting: “The elders have handled a matter having to do with [name of person]. You will be glad to know that spiritual shepherds are endeavoring to render assistance.” On the other hand, if the elders on the committee determine that he is unrepentant, they should announce his disassociation." Shepherd the Flock of God, Ch 18 Disassociation, Section 3 , Subsection 3, April 2021 How does that compare with the following? "when one of Jehovah's Witnesses decides to accept a blood transfusion we view that as someone who's has a spiritual weakness. We try to encourage them, support them. There's no stigma attached to them there they aren't shunned." HLC member at 12:19. He knows he's lying. If his God is real, his God knows he's lying too. He keeps looking up as he tries to formulate a statement that will seem more palatable to the rest of the panel than the plain truth would be.

14:56 "there is nothing in the scriptures that denote so anything about organs so therefore that's a matter for each witness to decide" They've changed their minds about what principles the Bible seems to suggest should be applied. "When men of science conclude that this normal process will no longer work and they suggest removing the organ and replacing it directly with an organ from another human, this is simply a shortcut. Those who submit to such operations are thus living off the flesh of another human. That is cannibalistic. However, in allowing man to eat animal flesh Jehovah God did not grant permission for humans to try to perpetuate their lives by cannibalistically taking into their bodies human flesh, whether chewed or in the form of whole organs or body parts taken from others" Watchtower, Nov 15 1967, p 702 and to further panic members about possible evil spirits involved in such procedures, hey said this: ""In this regard the weekly, Scope, went on to say; "Did a spirit guide Dr. Chris Barnard's hand during the historic heart transplant operation several weeks ago? ... A former member of Dr. Barnard's heart surgery team ... had often seen a spirit figure standing behind Dr. Barnard during operations in the hospital theatre. ... 'But that's "Klein Oupatjkie," Chris Barnhard's late father!' was the immediate reaction."
