Hazezon is on the Reserved List FYI. I've never used Cube Cobra outside of cube, but that's a good idea! You certainly could find additional synergies there. Plus, edhrec can be an echo chamber. Lots of people are running this card with this Commander, therefore everyone sees those cards as popular choices and runs them as well, perpetuating their popularity. As for Cube Cobra, if you ever want to dive into a cube that would be fun. You can draft them and do all sorts of things. if you did, I'd be honored if you checked out my own. Thanks as always for the great content!
@theflourishing3 күн бұрын
@@danielzitnik4247 Thanks. That’s a good point about popularity bias in edhrec. I’m sure I read a data science paper once that talked about those sort of problems in recommendation systems. It may have been called something like “everyone wants a pony”, but I might be misremembering here. I’ll be giving the cube content thing some more thought over the rest of what is left of 2024. I’ve got a bit ahead of myself in the video schedule for this year and have content ready for release for the remainder of the year, including the all important Yuletide ‘lands ahoy’ 21st December video. Getting ahead of myself proved very useful for this year as I was able to keep to my current release schedule and get another project of the ground and hopefully finished by the end of the year. It’s not magic related, but I needed to scratch a creative training material / AI generated / programming code itch without impacting the content on this channel. If it’s something anyone is curious about, it’s currently under development here and I will do a formal hard release video sometime towards the end of 2024, beginning of 2025. programmingpolyglot.wordpress.com Thanks for your usual super helpful comments. This Tombstone is one of the weakest precon decks. The strategy is like reanimator decks - fill graveyard with creatures which you bring back to the battlefield. The problem is the creatures in the precon deck are just weak and overcosted with no special abilities. With so few and unreliable 'reanimate' spells, you would usually be able to play them from your hand while waiting to draw your 'reanimates'. One of the weakest precons, which I actually built/put together from my Urza Saga excess cards. I usually play this when I want to lose to my wife who plays a different precon.

@@augustjologs1 I seem to recall seeing a really interesting article several years ago on one of the mtg related sites where the author went through all the old theme decks and ordered them by weakest to strongest. I can’t remember specifically what deck came out on top but I do remember it being some kind of burn deck.
@augustjologs18 күн бұрын
@@theflourishing I saw that article 2 days ago and was surprised to see "The Sparkler" preconstructed deck from Stronghold mentioned as #1 (ranked subjectively from worst to best, not based on deck's power/winning %). The Sparkler was my very first Magic deck/cards bought, in Jan 2000, and it's a Counter-burn deck with just 3 lousy creatures, and counterspells and burn spells (reusable with buyback). I consider that as probably my weakest precon deck, though could be argued as one of the more 'interesting' decks because of its strategy and card composition.
@theflourishing8 күн бұрын
@@augustjologs1 I should revisit counter-burn as part of the This Olde Deck series. Yes, that sounds like the article I remembered. I also have a vague memory of another I read, around the same time, where someone had systematically played various decks against one another. But again it’s a distant memory that I can’t remember how many of the decks were done and what the system was for pairing up the decks, the elimination process, and then the pairings for moving on to the next ‘round’.

While I only have the most surface level understanding of programming languages and really no interest in learning them, I still find these videos on program languages quite fascinating. I feel that it’s important to understand just how vital these languages and their various applications are to our modern society. I dabbled in Qbasic when I was younger and built some very basic, no pun intended, programs. I never did much beyond that besides simple html and css for web design. But I never realized just how many programming languages actually exist and how they interact with each other even decades on from their inception. So while a lot of the concepts are over my head, I still like listening to your videos on these subjects because at least I can have an appreciation for every thing that goes into the behind the scenes guts of applications we modern humans use every day.

I think you nailed it with the Evolving Wilds description with the snow-capped peak. Also on the one with the giant lily pads, I was thinking the exact same thing! It's interesting to see so many different artworks for one card. It'd be funny as an April Fool's Day joke to do 15 versions of the same card but with a deadpan expression, never revealing nor acknowledging they're all the same card lol. "Here's Evolving Wilds. And next is a different artwork. I actually have a 3rd copy of Evolving Wilds this week. Oh yea, a 4th copy as well with alternate artwork." etc.

@@danielzitnik4247 Thanks. Amusing thought, and it does make me wonder what version of a card I have the most copies of (excluding basic lands).
