I doubt that since you always have to know where the nose of your jet is because the main chain gun is on the nose of it, so it must help with aiming the main gun. So might aswell put some display on it since you're looking at it anyway

yes in real aircraft you would have a hud both toward the nose and one projected onto your helmet.

It's usually the other way around! I've found jets to be easier than helicopters, what are you having trouble with?

Sounds like somehow the axes are mapped as button presses and not truly analog axes. Check your software to make sure they're set up as such, the game should be reading them as analog inputs.

Trackir is about $150 usd, but if you have a he webcam you can use FacetrackNoIR, which is free.

If you want headtracking, not really. If you have a hat switch free on your stick or throttle you could use that to look around though.

I have mine setup this way. I barely move my throttle forward I get a tiny bit of thrust

Depends on what I'm doing. DCS has far better flight model, but there's not really a way to support live infantry players on the ground. If you're looking for full spectrum combat Arma is the way to go.

In arma I only map one throttle but in other games you're able to map multiple throttle controls (DCS for example)

Are you setting analog collective? If you have no deadzone in the software set what you'll do is go into analog collective, disconnect the throttles from each other, and move one throttle (doesn't matter which) back and forward through the full range. You should end up seeing something like X56 Throttle Z- and X56 Throttle Z+.

It's my understanding that the radar is fixed for each aircraft. One might have 16km and one might have 4km. I'm not sure you can adjust the range of it.

Yes and no. On the one hand I'd love to see an advanced flight model for fixed wing aircraft (the afm for helos is pretty good), but on the other hand I don't want to see such a high barrier of entry that flying in A3 loses its accessibility. I understand that A3 is a "sim" but if you look at A3 as a sim, then DCS is a sim dialed up to 11. Plus, the maps in A3 simply aren't large enough to justify large scale aerial operations. Now...if there were some way to integrate the two games together, that would be amazing. Imagine this: you're running a ground op with a few of your best buds in the Caucuses and call in a JDAM from a Hornet driver that's orbiting at 20,000 ft.
