Wow California puts drivers in harms way with these stupid dangerous unsafe procedures to just complete the driving cycles. Just issue the smog certificates if there are no actual "codes" present for God's sake.

What's the difference between since DTCs cleared and this Drive Cycle? Every video uses DTCs cleared and not this Drive Cycle.
@stevew9563
@stevew9563 Күн бұрын
The "this drive cycle monitors" are for when you are confirming a repair. And want to make sure the monitor for that particular system completes without an error code. None of the state smog computers care about them. Because since they get reset after every key cycle they would have to tell you when you pull up to the emissions inspection station to leave your car running. And none of them do.

@@countrookularich4493 No problem. Honestly they never used to include them in consumer level scanners because they were so confusing. Now that they do people are going nuts thinking thier monitors are not setting because every time they look at the wrong screen they say "Not Ready"

@stevew9563

IN most states technically it will but many inspectors wont want to run the test with a pending code because they know there is a problem that would reflect bad on thier score with the state agency.

This reminds me a lot of my old '09 VW Tiguan with a 2.0 EA888 Turbo engine. Similar process. What you experienced is normal, this is how many disassembly operations you must do to remove the head. -There is a Nissan service manual: eBay sellers will email you a .pdf of one that is how I got it. -The valves fail because of overheating. The combustion temperatures of Direct Injection engines are more than before, so the EGT temps are higher. This means that the valve seat's cooling rate must increase, its seems that engineers have a harder time creating cooling channels in the cylinder head that work in the long term since they are making them smaller to compact the size of the head and reduce pumping losses to meet the current fuel economy requirements. Cooling channels must be cleaned with a radiator flush solution, especially since the Rogue Sport has a infamous cooling fan induced overheating failure. -People tend to not realize that a sizable amount of time is taken up by disconnecting the main engine wiring harness. I'd recommend loosening that up first to save a constant back and forth. Having a mirror with a 90 degree handle is nice to see what's behind the firewall side of the engine. -I wouldn't use RTV where two machined faces meet. Use a thinner non-hardening sealant like Hylomar. RTV to too thick, it emulates a gasket or O-Ring which is nice if you don't want to buy new ones, but it isn't useful in other areas. - The timing chain tensioner fails much more quickly in these DI engines due to the fact that a high pressure pump strains the tensioner more due to the impulsive forces on the chain by the pump.

I understand what you mean by hospitals. I had pretty much the same experience. I went to the hospital first time for 2 stents. Second trip to hosp for 1 Stent. Third trip was for a Tavr valve in the Aortic valve. Two days later they put in a pacemaker because my heart kept stopping. I had high blood pressure before all this surgery. Guess what? My blood pressure is higher now than before all this surgery. Isn't that crazy? But there is one thing you have to look forward to. You will most likely be on blood thinners the rest of your life. Unless, of corse, YOU decide to stop taking them. Whatever happens, I wish you well. 🙂

2001 VW Passat wagon, 1.8T. Everything was normal, except that my SAIP readiness monitor refused to clear. Once I figured out that a leaky solenoid-controlled vacuum valve was preventing the combi valve (VW-repurposed EGR for SAIP air flow control), I was able to clear all monitor bits to 0 / ready with a simple 10-mile loop that included a 1-mile 45 mph open road stretch, a 2-mile 55 mph road stretch, stopping for about 10 minutes for an errand at Home Depot, then completing the trip home on 35-40 mph roads with a few red lights. My VCDS scanner said "all good," and I immediately called my trusted smog test station to see if they could take me that morning. Two years later, I am coming up for smog again, and so far all of my monitors read 0 / ready.
