plenty of them ingenium cars for sale with knocking engines for low low prices, you've worked on the ingenium engine before, if all goes right brilliant profit providing no comebacks from customers for other issues

Yeah there's plenty to choose from out there. Need to buy them at the right prices though to be worth the hassle.

@@shielscountrycars ive stripped everything off for mine (awd fpace) so extra pain but, how the hell did you get the top bell house bolt out from the gearbox? It is in such an akward place

Hi mate, another message from myself been studying all sorts of videos before commencing work. For the engine holder mount thing did you have to buy seperate bolts to attach it to the engine block? Im just trying to order everything needed before starting the work and thats one thing thats puzzling me

Yeah you will need separate bolts. I used the gearbox bolts that I had already removed. All the best with the build!

hi mate, on your ingenium jaguar rebuild, how is the engine holding up since rebuild? hear many advise otherwise against rebuilding but thinking its just a poor cant be bothered mentality we have in the uk?

So far, so good. The engine is still running well. I haven't done loads of miles to be fair as it isn't my daily driver. I think the amount of work puts people off, but at least I know what I have now. If I tried to source a second hand engine they are a fortune and probably needing rebuilt anyway!

@@shielscountrycars That is really good to hear, im about to attempt my rebuild next week ordered all parts, the car is a 2016 f pace with only 38k miles!. just want to ask is there any sorts of things i should keep in mind when rebuilding these? hear loads say they are a difficuilt engine to rebuild but i dont see how they could be? is there any tips you could give before i commence this massive project :D fyi: Engine is knocking been advised all sorts but most likely crank bearings of some sort or even injectors aswell, however got cylinder liners worst case.

I would say you need to split the rebuild into sections. Make it a series of small jobs rather than one big job. Take your time with the strip down, laying out all the parts in order. Take a lot of photos! I have a good amount of the build laid out in my videos.

Could you please advise on the possible aftermarket upgrades which could make the engine better? I would like to remap mine to have somewhat more power, but I do not want to damage the engine. If anything, I want to have as reliable engine as it is ingeniously possible :)

Hi, best going with factory. The liners in mine had no burrs as far as I can remember.

You need to turn the car on for 70 seconds without starting it, turn it off again, and repeat twice. You’ll hear the fuel pump stop at around that 70 second mark. Cheers, tho, mate. I’m working on my timing chain and balance shafts. Good on you for persevering. It inspires me. Much love from LA.❤

Hello foreman. I'm looking at a Jaguar XE 20d 2017. According to the garage, it has a problem. He says the engine makes noise but is drivable. Does that mean the timing chain or connecting rod bearing is damaged?

It's impossible to say without looking at it. If it's driving then more likely to be the timing chains. It's very possible to have underlying engine damage though.

Probably caused by oil dilution, due to EGR valve , short journeys and too long between oil services.

Hi, Im inspecting only 40000 km used oem pistons. I cant find piston ring to ring groove clearance. Its like on top ring something like 0.15 mm, that seem excesive to me, but the ring groove looks perfectly square. Is there in autodata any ring to groove clearance data?

Hi, there isn't any information on that in Autodata. You're probably looking at Topix for that sort of info. I decided to go for new pistons and rings as a precaution as these engines are so problematic.

Hi, yes you will need to take the gearbox out and subframe depending on what model you're working on.

I used ordinary torx. I think it was t60 from memory.

You are quite correct in what you are saying. Reading a fault code is easy, interpreting it another story. I have a BMW which had a fault on the throttle body, It was causing codes on the traction control and then sent the tyre pressure monitor nuts. Go figure, Its a BMW.

Just a quick question. Who did you get to do the cylinder liners. Everyone I have spoken to told me,they won't touch the ingenium engine. I had one guy in the UK, quite close to Chester, who wanted £1000 just to do the liners. I ended up having the engine rebored +0.5mm.

I came across that too but found an engineer in Northern Ireland who could change the liners.

how is the engine running? Im going with +0.5mm too, got new liners, getting quoted 550+vat for 4 liners to 800+vat so yeah. does it affect the engine reboring to larger sized pistons do you think?
