Rolling will help smooth the micro surface and press the roots of the sod into the ground but it is not necessary. You can also roll it a few weeks later after the sod has rooted in on a slope. Roll the new sod when it has been watered and the ground is firm enough to walk on and but yet pliable. Thanks! -gvt

Hi Shawn, I have a small city lot. It had been covered with cloth and crushed gravel. this was about eight years ago. There has since been some grass sprouting. Also, there are four, four by eight elevated square foot gardens placed in the yard. I have a dog that doesn't know where to do her business. my local sod dealer sells sod in two foot by four foot squares. This is the perfect size based on how the elevated garden has been laid out. The yard gets about 8 hours of sun based on the detached garage and the house. I have estimated about 210 square foot of potential yard.. Is this possible, or should I go to Astro-turf :-)? Thanx for any suggestions! Keith from Dayton, Oh
