‪Tithe/Tithing in biblical context, was not and is not about money. Tithe/Tithing in the biblical context, was all about food. God, gave specific instructions as to whom had to give tithe/tithing ( The Herdsmen Paid Tithes, The Farmers Paid Tithes ). When/Where/Whom the tithing was for and to ? ( Yourselves, Levy, Priesthood, Poor, Widows, Fatherless, Foreigners, and Homeless to feast and eat in front of The Lord ). Tithing was an Old Testament Law ( Mosaic Law ) for the tribes of Israel and not everyone had to tithe under that Law. Jesus did not tithe because he was a carpenter nor any other occupation that requires to earn wages; Shekels, Denarius, Silver,Mite ( Wage Earners Were Exempt ). Not even the Gentiles had to tithe. First fruit in the biblical context was about food. The whole book of Malachi, was addressing the priests as the tithe thieves. Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it; is not referring to the Church or Temple. A storehouse, is self explanatory; a place where things are stored, a warehouse. Malachi was addressing the Priest/Nation of Israel, not us and the blessings was regarding the abundance of water/rain, healthy soils, protection for the crops and livestock from devouring insects ( Not Money ). Abram, gave a one time voluntary tithing out of the spoils of the war and not out of his wealth and the rest of the spoils of the war he gave away. Jacob, promised to give a tithe with conditions ( something in return ). There is nowhere written in the scriptures that Jacob, complied with his promised. Changing the biblical context or history of tithing to fit today’s agenda to support a CHURCH/BUILDING is usurping Gods authority regarding the specific instructions/law of tithing. There is no more Storehouse, Sacrificial Temples, Priesthood nor Levite’s in existence to follow the tithing law. At the cross, Jesus nailed any bondage from the law ( 613 Mosaic Law ) and gave himself as a sacrificial Lamb and freed The Nation of Israel from their sin, the 613 Mosaic Law and by doing so... God, gave the entire World, the gift of grace and free will and we are not longer in bondage. We are to give freely and cheerfully from the heart without expecting something in return. God does not need any money, He is the Almighty. People ( poor, widow, fatherless, foreigners, the sick, the homeless ) are in need of money/food/shelter/clothing/medicine and that is how you give to the Lord by providing the imperative need to the needy. ‬
