What me and my wife learn is how different each child can be. My son was born with autism it was very mild but many of the typical signs were there. When our daughter was born she showed none of that, we were left so surprised once she was diagnosed also and much more severe than our son. Each child is truly different on the signs and symptoms. Our son is now in school with a support program but he is doing well and improving every day. Our daughter she is improving but much slower and still has a long long way to go but we are hopeful

I am a dad of two autistic kids. My son is a milder case while my daughter is a more extreme case. We receive support from CHEO and our local hospital but your video are very useful in helping me get more skills. My wife is a much better trainer working with both of them but I do my best to help to improve them as a dad. Thanks so much

How long can one teach this skill before moving to the next skill?
@autismmalaysiaАй бұрын
Hi! We would encourage to teach the skill for as long as the child needs to be able to learn it and to practice it as often as possible!

Hi, my son can do hand washing but he often play with water or take too much soap. So can’t leave him independently.else without schedule also he can do everything.Any suggestions please. Thanks
@autismmalaysiaАй бұрын
Hi! We would recommend to use a visual (Press soap 1x) and a visual (no playing with water). Praise him when he refers to the visuals and performs the action correctly, before fading the visual off! We hope this helps! Do let us know how it goes!

May Allah bless you and your son. He is a gift to you by Allah to make you better people. I know this for fact because my son is also autistic. I thank Allah everyday for him. I'm from France where the education system is struggling to hire specialized educators for challenged kids. I'm thinking about moving to Malaysia but I'm afraid of the language barrier, even though my son has a talent for acquiring new languages, after being non verbal for the first 7 years of his life (He's 11 today). Are there any arrangements possible for foreigners? May Allah reward you.

Thank you for this video. My son is 3.5 and he is refuse to pee on the potty. He can sit on toilet but he hold it and crying until he get off and pee as soon as he get out of bathroom. Also when I catch him mid pee to take him to the toilet he can stop himself and hold it again til he gets out of bathroom. Any tips for this
@autismmalaysia3 ай бұрын
Hello, thank you for reaching out and for sharing. We would encourage to show your child visuals that pee pee goes into the toilet and pair a strong reinforcement with this (eg: his favourite chocolate or video which can only be accessed if he pees in the toilet and will not be able to obtain it outside of this routine to maintain its motivation). We also encourage to use the First Then board to communicate clear expectations to your child that first pee pee in toilet, then reward. We also encourage for you to try out the Big Day practice as shared in the video where your child is brought to the toilet on a schedule. We hope that these have been helpful. Do reach out to us at [email protected] should you have further questions or discuss further strategies with one of our team. Thank you.

Please, what do you do if the child is aggressive about grabbing or attacking? That cannot be ignored.
@autismmalaysia3 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for reaching out. We would recommend to look out for precursor behaviors and take note of certain triggers that may lead to the behaviors then prompt the child to communicate at the onset of the behavior before it escalates. We highly encourage to focus on preventing the behavior from happening such as noting down pre-cursor behaviors and removing self away from the child to avoid being grabbed and redirect them to a calming activity. We also encourage teaching the child communication and coping strategies through the use of visuals and social stories. We hope that these have been helpful. Do reach out to us at [email protected] should you have further questions or discuss further strategies that are specific to the child's behavior with one of our team. Thank you.
